Re: Protective panel for ignition switches on LRC
We have the LRC and haven't yet covered the engine panel (we also have a bimini that provides protection). But we did do something similar to our monohull engine panel. Charley bought a piece of clear plexiglas from our local plastics supplier and used a brass piano hinge to attach it at the top of ...

Re: Dodger storage?
You do not want to fold these under any circumstance. As our dodger is made of sunbrella and isenglass (some kind of soft vinyl plastic window) - we roll each panel into a tube and use velcro straps (soft side facing toward the plastic) with the hook side facing out. Then, they are easy to stow in t...

Re: Carpet runners
Drew - I also want to add to our carpeted area, and kept looking for something that would work. I found an online store that sells 5' x 8' size olefin carpet with nonskid backing that can be cut to fit. Google Madison Wall To Wall Bathroom Carpet - found at BedBathStore. Happy cruising!

Re: Window Replacement - Help Please!
Mike - search this forum using "replace ports" or "replacement ports" and you'll find plenty of entries. One of those is a response by James Power - his user name is the same, and you find him and send him a private message by searching under the Members tab in the upper right of...

Re: Carpet runners
You didn't say which width you are looking for, and since we have the 36' - can't measure but our runner is 23" x 60". I found great selection in the bath & kitchen section at the local Target store and the dollar store - cannot remember if it was Dollar General or the other one. I kno...

1999 Altair brochure Free to first request
Now that we have purchased our dream boat, and our house is listed for sale - we are cleaning out our files! When we were still researching boats, we saved copies of everything! We've discovered several copies of the PDQ factory's original brochures for the 99/00 Altair along with price lists from 1...

For Sale Pair Dahon Mariner Folding Bikes
For Sale - one pair of hardly ever used 20" Dahon Mariner Folding Bikes - both 5 Speed with Nylon Covers and 1 Basket We bought them years ago, then used them only once before selling our former boat. This version from late 1990s has the rust resistant frame with 5 speed gearing. They were grea...

Re: Mast track cleaning
May not be necessary to climb the mast. We've attached a compact cleaning plug (translation = tampon) to the halyard (don't forget to attach a second line held onto in the cockpit to pull it back down once you've gotten it to the top). Soak the item with appropriate cleaning solution and run it up a...

Re: Shrink wrap vs Custom Tarp
Thought I'd add an update on our personal attempt to "do it yourself" and save money. The tarp was strong and not too difficult to work with, but we found it impossible to eliminate all the bellies after six different trips. We used lots of framing, took off all the life lines, etc. etc. O...
