Re: Shrink wrap vs Custom Tarp

Eric's suggestion for an inexpensive white tarp was the direction we chose for this year: $180 plus some cheap line to keep everything tight against the hull. It was very heavy and awkward to get it all spread out and tightened down - took us several trips and hardware store runs. We did need to &qu...

Re: Transiting with mast down?

Mike & Rebecca - we own a 36' LRC and when bringing her home last year, we were able to carry our mast on the port side, strapped to each pulpit front and rear, with the boom disconnected and lying across the bow behind the tramp. It did stick out a bit front and back but we did not find this ex...

Shrink wrap vs Custom Tarp

Hey, folks - we are inviting feedback about pros/cons of each option. Magic Dragon will be stored on the hard each season for the next 2-3 years during our Cleveland winters while we explore the Great Lakes. We've got dirty soot but no leaves on top of lots of cold rain & snow in the downtown ar...

Re: Bahamas Insurance

Have no idea if Safeco will issue boat insurance for the Bahamas, or who your local agent would be, but we've been very happy with their handling of our lightning strike. Might be worth getting a competitive quote.

Re: Auto helm pilot ST 4000 single spoke clamp

Just realized we have one unbroken clamp that I can meaure. The clamps we are seeking have the following dimensions:
3/4" high at the hump; 2 and 1/8" wide; and screw holes are 1 1/2" center to center. See you in Annapolis! AB

Re: Auto helm pilot ST 4000 single spoke clamp

James - thanks for that offer! I'm pretty sure the inner spokes on our wheel are 3/8" but can't measure them for a few more days. Charley was able to "hippie rig" a temporary solution to get us through the balance of our season. He paid less than 25 cents for each clamp, instead of cl...

Re: Some items for sale

We are just now doing research on whether to replace our ST4000 or upgrade to the X5 after ours was somewhat damaged (screen shows black lines) during a lightning strike. Could you send PM with pricing desired, age of your unit, and when it was installed (or maybe an estimate of hours?). Thanks in a...

Re: Bed-making

I used to move around my big stock pot (tied to a short line for easy retrieval) under the mattress at each corner in order to get a good grip on the mattress while I wrestled with those too tight sheets! Here's what I do now: #1 Sacrifice desire for hospital / military type corners and ability to b...

Positive Flotation Secret Compartments

Several questions surrounding this posting: #1 Where are all the positive flotation compartments located and where is inspection access located for each one (does anyone have a plan for these on the 36' LRC)? #2 Just returned from thorough examination of the two lower compartments hidden under both ...

Auto helm pilot ST 4000 single spoke clamp

We are looking for 3) of Raymarine part A18089, the single spoke clamp that holds the autopilot wheel to the SS wheel. This part is no longer sold, and the only place I've found them online is England. We plan on replacing this unit come winter, and only need these three small clamps for the balance...
