Re: Anchor chain castles lifting chain off gypsy

hi, as someone mentioned this topic will generate a lot of replies i'm sure. i said in another post that we've anchored from marthas vineyard down icw to fl, then both coasts and keys, and 6 years in bahamas. we've used 40' 5/16 chain with 5/8" 3 strand nylon and never had a problem. with that ...

Re: Achoring in the Bahamas with a MV 34

hi, we've beenanchoring in the bahamas for 6 years, almost all in abacos. we've used a 20kg spade and now a 20kg rocna. we have 40' chain. both have done well for us. rocna's lower profile helps when there is sand over limestone. in abacos you get a lot of grass and anchor needs to get down through ...

there is a guy in our marina (marsh harbour, abacos) who uses it exclusively. teamwork is traveling but will be able to give you specifics when he gets to us.

Re: Shaft vibration

maureen, that's what's so hard when people put the couples name on the post. i assumed, and yes i know what that means, and i apologize. if we ever meet up i owe you a cool one of your choice. now the questions just start coming. what holds the cutlass to the inside of the stern tube? did you change...

Re: Shaft vibration

hi dave,

you say you added "half cutlass bearings". is it half length? if so, why didn't you use a full cutlass bearing?

Re: Prop anti-fouling

we've used petit barnicle barrier for the past 2 seasons in bahamas and florida. it has worked very well. it lists at $44 @ west. 1 spray can will do both props 2-3 coats.

Re: davit block and tackle

hi,

originals on our boat were from rmo (aust). since then we have replaced with a combo of ronstan (8 part stern) and harken (3 part bow). we have an ab 9'8" rib with 15 hp 2 stroke. we use the originals to secure the bow/stern to prevent swinging side to side.

not sure you can get rmo parts.

Re: Water Heater Check Valve

hi dave, we too switched to the 750W isotemp but it's still in port hull. had we continued to do icw i was going to add one of those electric instant water heaters right in front of shower to eliminate the wait for pipes to heat. had i done that we would've had to run genset but would have been a sm...

Re: Water Heater Check Valve

hi chet, we replaced our force 10 years ago, so i maybe rusty on some details. as i recall it has a std hot water heater pressure relief valve. if so, i think the only possibility is to keep hot water in the tank. as far as pex is concerned i don't know if the red & blue have different temp rang...

Re: ACCUMULATOR?

hi ross, we have an accumulator on our mainship 34 but none on duetto and quite frankly i don't see a difference. i think that the variable speed pump on on duetto masks any difference. not sure what pump we have on the mainship. wait a minute, i thought you were selling....let me see, selling and u...

Re: transmission oil cooler?

hi dick,

thanks for the reply. after getting into the engine compartment, i found that the rubber boots on the cooler have "bowman" on them, so i assume they are bowman coolers. i'm sending pictures with dimensions to bowman to see if they are bowman coolers. i'll post what they say.

Re: transmission oil cooler?

hi john,

we've got 2700+ hrs on boat. we go to bahamas all winter, so i would rather err on the side of caution as opposed to mixing atf and saltwater.
