Re: 9.9 won't hold RPM
sam,
does a 9.9 have the little screw on filter/screen on the port side? if it does, pumping with a bulb doesn't eliminate an air leak there.

Re: Must Visit places on the West Coast of Florida

Re: fluxgate compass
we have pretty much operated for 7 years like jerry with no problems. i think it all boils down to how you want to use the autopilot. we just set it and fine tune the cross track error manually. if you want more than this, as i know teamwork does, then the alignment becomes important.

Re: Rudder posts
hi, first, i think that the collar with the bolt coming out of the side is the retainer which keeps the rudder from dropping. i just adjusted both sides on our boat (hull #23) and didn't notice any grease fitting so that must have been added later. luckily your problem is on the starboard side. just...

Re: T9.9 lower end removal questions
after you get it running make sure it gets water circulation up thru the head. you should get water pouring out of the holes abobe the cavitation plate. if you got that much sand in the lower housing AND it came thru the water pump, it may have clogged some of the water passages in the head.

Re: Oil Change Pump Recommendations
thank you larry! this is the first filter change since i read larry's suggestion of a large garbage bag down in the bilge. did both filters w/o spilling a drop. in the past i had used ziplocs but inevitably the oily filter touched the outside of bag and/or dripped in the bilge. this is truly a break...

Re: rudder packing
hi james,
thanks for response.
on the pss i was thinking about using on the RUDDERS. after investigating, i'm not sure it is compatable and it seems like a lot of disassembly.

Re: rudder packing
hi james, thanks for getting back to me. after further investigation, the dripless packing requires new regular packing (2) rows in addition to the packing putty. do you cut 1 continuous piece of teflon packing per row, and angle the end, or do you use multiple pieces per row? at the same time i'm r...

Re: Shaft vibration
hi, after re-reading the original note, the sound also comes with the shaft disconnected from the coupling, so this isn't the harmonic squeal that roger is talking about. the stern tubes are made out of some ceramic like material. it's not like any fiberglas that i'm used to. i can tell you that whe...
