Salon door stop
Anyone know where to find a replacement door stop for the entrance door? Mine has aged and is looking like it's close to falling apart. And how to replace it??

Re: Bow roller quick release pin
Found it at McMaster-Carr.com -- ordered two at $7.42 each. This is a BIG hardware company with good customer service.

Re: Bow roller quick release pin
That may be IT, John. Good find! I looked at Defender and did not see this there. I’ll double check at Defender on how they are measuring the length. I also found another source this evening for $4.50 ea.

Bow roller quick release pin
Does anyone know where I can buy a couple of Stainless Steel quick release pins for securing our anchor in the bow roller? I found what I think is the correct pin. It's model "QRP 5.0" (5" useable length between the ring and the ball) made by Kingston Anchors Marine in Ontario. I have...

Re: Berth porthole arms
Nice. Thanks for testing it. I'll be lubing our window arms on Fri when the boat comes back from charter. I'll probably use "Super Lube" - it's a synthetic grease that seems to work really well on most everything.

John, what kind of LUBE did you use?

Re: Nova Kool Refrigerator
Our Isotherm CR2000 seems to be fantastic. It is better insulated, cycles less than our old Nova Cool and is guaranteed to not ever need the coolant to be re-pressurized. While its internal measurements are a tiny bit smaller, it still holds a lot of normal food and frozen food. The freezer compartm...

Re: Berth porthole arms
John, spot on... the challenge is... would any lube work and not compromise the binding on the window arm. The issue for us is that some charter guests get carried away and twist the handle so tight it becomes very difficult to release. Despite us adding a label above the window stating the directio...

Re: Berth porthole arms
Alan, I think you were clear. However, the issue I'm experiencing is not related to the hinge attachment point where the "ball" and adjustment screw is located. I am only referring to the black twist handle that is used to tighten the grip on the arms when the window is opened. I'm wonderi...

Re: Berth porthole arms
Good to know about that hinges screw and ball. We don’t have an issue with the hinges on either Porthole. We are just looking for a way to prevent the plastic-on-plastic twist-to-lock black handle from getting so tight that it becomes very difficult to loosen.

Berth porthole arms
Has anyone experimented with lubricating the twist grips used to hold the berth porthole window arms open? The grips on ours work but can be very hard to release whether open or closed if they are twisted too tightly.

Re: Yanmar starter relay
Thanks, Russ! By the way to all on this thread... After 8 weeks of troubleshooting, we finally appear to have solved our start issue on our port engine. We went from 100% failure to start (30 to 90 mins after shutting down) to 100% successful instant starts cold or warm in one step. The culprit was ...

Re: Yanmar starter relay
Also, a Yanmar 4JH3-HTE engine does not have glowplugs. It uses only compression to ignite the fuel.

Re: Yanmar starter relay
Priming via the fuel filter pump as well as advancing the throttle have been standard “tricks” we have tried routinely since the first day of this saga. Early on both seemed to help. But for the last few weeks, nether trick seems to work. My diesel maintence guy is very experienced and I’ve had 2 bo...

Re: Tightening Alternator Belt
Here's a pic using the belt tension jack on serpentine belt pulleys. Note the small pieces of hose I used to protect the ribs on the pulleys. It worked quite well... no longer need that "3rd hand" to set tension.
