Hi Ed,
When this discussion first came up someone offered a PDF file for a repair sketch. I have a copy of it and you can contact me with you email and I'll forward it to you.

I don't have to replace the lenses just the gaskets. I have the gaskets so maybe this week, time permitting I'll try one. It seems pretty straight forward. Also I might mention that I saw an add in one of the boating mags (Cruising World?)about a company that does just this service.

Interesting comment about the heater space. I think this highlights the individuality of each boat. Both PDQ's that I have owned were LRC and about 12 hulls difference in construction. The first had a Wolter mounted stbd in the fwd lazaret (sp)along with the holding tank that was molded into the hul...

My pedestals are 18". I think 24 without foot rests would be uncomfortable.

transom grab rails

I had a recent episode with a derelect and in parting ways managed to mangle the grab rail. Does anyone know who built the stainless for PDQ? Looks to me that I will have to put a deck plate in one of the transom step risers to get to the old nuts on the lower 2 attachment points.

salon table

I was at a yard sale recently at Sailors Exchange in St Augustine and actually had my hand on one of the leaf support assemblies so I'm guessing that they are commercially available. The store is presently closed for remodeling but they have a web site. I has to make new slider blocks for my support...

bilge pumps

Has anyone installed automatic bilge pumps. If so did you tie into the existing thru hulls of the existing manual pump. On my last boat I put an electric diaphragm pump in place of the manual one but did not add float switches because of the need to change the wye valve. In my opinion the bilges are...

Be sure to inspect the bulkhead between berths. I lost my first boat, I believe, due to this problem not being addressed by POs and then covered up with a poor repair.

clew failure

My clew sail slug peeled out of the boom this summer with the resultant minor tearing of the first few eyes on the foot. I had it repaired and on my way down the New Jersey coast the original webbing ripped causing the same damage to the foot. When I brought it in for repairs to my sailmaker the fir...

Does anyone have calibration instructions for the ST 50 wind /VMG instrument? I have only been able to locate a manual for the ST50+. My left button is a toggle between true/apparent and the right is <>.

terry, this was a timely thread as I noticed a frayed cover on one of my HP fuel lines and was being lazy about dealing with it. With a trip down the ICW coming up I guess I'll fix it now.

The old rule of thumb is 10% of hull value. It more than held true for our old (30 yrs) Tri and so far with our new to us PDQ I'd say it is less but I can't really say by how much as I am still tweaking things. I'm fussy about mechanical things and the boat really wasn't used for several years. One ...

salon window trim

Has anyone replaced the plastic trim around the fixed salon windows? I've been on a wild goose chase for about 3 weeks with no luck. Dave Naylor gave me a part number that was incorrect when I finally found the mfgr. Dave is no longer with PDQ so now I'm back at the beginning with another vague conv...
