Re: Excel hot water heater

Hey Jim, If memory serves, the stove, oven and water heater were supplied after the regulator. The only appliance plumbed with unregulated gas were some of the BBQ's that had there own regulators on the unit. If working on the LPG system, its a good time to check for leaks and make sure things are i...

Re: Dock Power GFI's & the PDQ

The fuses are on the 120 volt AC side, and by removing all 4 fuses this will take the isolator off line. James

Re: Dock Power GFI's & the PDQ

Hey Ross,

The onboard galvanic isolator is tripping the shore GFI. One way around this is to remove the in line fuses on the isolator. If you follow the wires from the unit you will see some black fuse holders at the panel. Dont forget to turn off all power first.

Re: Twists in the jib sheet

There should be a set screw on the swivel of the jib block. Setting the screw locks the swivel and use to help with the twisting issues. James

Re: Carpet runners

Hey Guys, We have been using carpet on our boat for the last 28 years and love it. It adds warmth and comfort in the colder temperatures up north, and does a great job of controlling sand when down island. We usually buy a length of a roll ( 12 ' wide ), cut the carprt to fit, and take it to a carpe...

Re: Water leak from Compression post

Hey Tom, The proper fix would be to lift the mast, install the tube if missing, and create a drip loop in the wiring harness. I would stay away from foaming the mast base. Not sure about the "plug'' at the bottom of the post, I dont think that was factory. You may want to check the condition of...

Hey Halfmoon,
I deal with the company that supplied the plexiglass salon windows for the 32, 36, and 44 PDQ's. Let me know what you need and i'll get you a price. James

Re: Water leak from Compression post

Hey Brian, the mast wiring enters the boat thru a short PVC tube in the center of the mast base. Sounds like the seal around the tube may have deteriorated, the tube may not have been installed, or there is no drip loop in the wiring harness before it enters the tube. If the halyards exit your mast ...

Re: Propane solenoid / detector / CO, etc.

Your right I meant CO. The solenoid installed on the PDQ's are as you mentioned, an on / off switch controlled manually in the galley. The only way they are closed is by turning off the switch at the galley or if the power is interupted, as a safety measure. There are units that will trip automatica...

Re: Transom edge guard

PDQ used moulded fiberglass trim made in house on the 36, and a flexable vinyl trim on the 32's, 34's and 44's. There are a few people looking for the vinyl trim, so I will see if I can find the supplier.

Re: Propane solenoid / detector / CO, etc.

Propane detectors are always a good idea when LPG is installed on board. Same thing for CO2 detectors. Although your engines are aft, watch for back drafts or a boat ideling next door. Propane detectors should be installed low in the hulls. CO2, because its about the same weight as air, can be insta...

Re: Rudder packing

Hey Duetto, if memory serves, I believe its regular 1/4" flax shaft packing. After removing the old stuffing, cut the new packing ring ends to meet at a 45 degree angle, and install 3 of them. Hope this helps. James

Hey Roger, We are going to spend this year exploring Georgian Bay and then hopefully the Islands the next year. If you are in Marsh Harbour can you do me a favour and stop by the Moorings base there and say hi to O.B. ( O'brian) for me. WE worked together there a long time ago, Just before David Roh...
