Re: Winterizing Water System
Hey Doubloon, You may be able to pump out more water by pushing the pick up tube further into the tank. Failing that try accessing the tank thru the inspection port, or last resort thru the deck fill fitting with a wet/dry vacuum. Bone dry is ideal, but guessing that less then a 1/2" left in th...

Re: original construction materials
Hey Lauraj, I asked Kieth Robinson who built damn near every PDQ hull and deck out there. His response, it changed thru the build history. Interior parts are general purpose polyester resin. Early boat hull and decks were isothalic polyester resin. This was changed to vinylester for the skin coat an...

Re: Rigging tension numbers for a PDQ 36?
Standing rigging is usually tensioned between 8 and 15 percent of breaking strenght. Higher tension on the forestay and caps, less on the lowers and diamonds. A Loos gauge is a handy tool to have. It gives acurate readings of tension and breaking strength percentage. The leeward cap shrouds should s...

Re: Hello from new owner
I would stay away from adding a power assist as it is not needed on any other 34 so the problem is spicific to your system. Might look at bleeding the system and replacing the oil, a bad ram, steering or auto pilot pump, kinked line..

Re: Port Tachometer and hour meter not working.
If the tach sender connections are corroded have a look for a salt water leak in the area. Possibly the exhaust elbow or a loose hose clamp

Re: Source for cockpit locker hinge
Hey Terrapin, I looked thru my catalogs and cant find your cockpit hinge. My guess is that it is a Perko or Seadog, and possibly discontinued. The closest I found is made by Sugatsune LAMP and they call it a lift off hinge. Failing that try Marine Connection in Ft. Pierce Fl. They have a good select...

Re: Lower Helm seat sliding bracket
Hey Bill,
Have a look at Garelick for the seat slide. Failing that try Springfield.

Re: Fuel gauges not working
Bill,
Typically there was no inline fuse installed on the fuel gauge circuit after the distribution panel breaker. There is a chance it has be rewired since the factory. Try following the power feed wire from the gauge back and see where it leads.

Re: Fuel gauges not working
Hey Bill,
With the instruments on check the back of the gauge for power. If present try jumping the center terminal on the tank sender to the tank itself. If the gauge pegs to full then the gauge is good but sender may be defective.

Hi Pam, Give Sebastien Baril with Metaux Produit a call, 819-533-3222. They supplied the original davits to the factory and still have the drawings for them. If running the BBQ off the ships LPG system, a lenght of split loom wrapped around the supply hose will protect it from the suns U.V and chafe...

Re: DISENGAGE TRANSMISSION AND CAN'T SHIFT STARBOARD SHIFTER AT THE LOWER HELM
The upper helm is slaved off the lower helm. If upper works lower should follow suit. Is there upper helm canvas that is interfering with shifting?

Re: Plumbing tubing
The plastic plumbing used on the 34's is 15 mm Whale tubing. Not to be confused with the 1/2" and 5/8" stuff sold at hardware stores. Tube is red for hot, blue for cold, and green for supply. Fittings are either white and also from Whale, or black from SeaTeck and both are interchaingable....

Re: PDQ 34/36 Curved Keels?
We saw this boat hauled out at the Hinkley yard in Stuart. Not sure of the story with the keel shape but can confirm it was not done at the PDQ factory.
