Generator Motor Mount Bracket on Oil Pan - Repair
Easy Riders has the NL M673D Genset with the oil pan underneath. The motor mounts connect to brackets that are welded to the side of the oil pan. The weld failed on the port aft bracket - photo below. I'm trying to avoid pulling the genset out. I'm considering an attempt to weld the bracket in place...

Re: Lightweight Dinghy
Hi Alan - I just ordered a Takacat inflatable catamaran dinghy, T260LS, 8'-6", 55 lbs. It's advertised as a 3 person boat, which is probably accurate if the 3rd person is small. I'm using a Torqeedo 1103CS electric outboard, 39 lbs. My plan is to put it on the davits during trips, and store it ...

Hull - Dent Deflection Depression Dimple - and Fender Placement
Easy Riders has a couple of small depressions in the outside starboard hull, near the waterline. I had thought that they were areas where maybe someone had got a little aggressive with polishing or compounding ... but now that she's out of the water and I've got a close look, they look like they cou...

Re: Cutless bearing story
Update from Hull # 29 -
We had fiber / composite bearings like Carl. The starboard bearing conveniently came out with the shaft - no pressing required. The port bearing was a little more recalcitrant, and had to be cut out. Went back in with standard BITE's with the brass casing.

Re: Half cutlass (bind) modification
Amen to that ! ... after much debate on if the mid bearings were really needed at all - since the tubes were already drilled for set screws, we went back in with half BITE's. Filed down the set screws to get below flush. Ran a small bead of 5200 around the middle of the bearing before sliding it in.

Re: Shaft Seals
At the risk of starting a firestorm on PSS vs. Tides ... Tides has updated their design - the photo shows the new design next to the old one. I also got the Carrier to enable an in-place replacement of the shaft seal. I'm doing these in combination with new cutlass bearings, new mid-bearings, and en...

Re: Throttle & Shifter Cables
I didn't see anything special with the Felsted cables, so I'm going back in with Seastar 33C Red Jacket cables (West Marine and Amazon).

Re: Half cutlass (bind) modification
Update from Hull #29 - Both mid-bearings had detached from the epoxy. The starboard bearing was still intact for the most part. The port bearing disintegrated, and parts and pieces were all the way back in the aft of the stern tube. I bought Easy Riders without any maintenance history or maintenance...

Thanks everyone for your responses ! I re-booked GEICO through their toll free number 877-581-2628. Agreed value at $185,000, 2% deductible, NO Bahamas Endorsement, at $2577 per year. The sales rep said that they no longer offer a year-round Bahamas Endorsement and that you have to call them with yo...

Re: Yanmar 75hp and 100hp exhaust elbow
Hull # 29 has the the HDI Marine 129473-13550/1 "L3" elbows. The base had cracked on the port engine, and it had been treated with what looks like JB Cold Weld. I ordered a replacement direct from HDIMarine.net.

Re: Smoke / Carbon Monoxide Detector Mounting Locations?
Thanks Mac ! That is also what I had always thought ... which is why the directions threw me for a loop. It showed wall mounting location at least 4 inches below the ceiling, or ceiling mount away from the corners of the room. I googled around and it looks like the latest take on CO is that it mixes...

Re: Hauling Boat - sling / stand placement
I hauled out last week - here's some photos and info. Thanks to everyone on my previous post. Hull #29 has starboard side thru-hulls and a transducer in way of the forward sling location shown on the Docking Structure Plan. Forward sling - I had wanted it positioned so that the aft end of the sling ...
