Oil Cooler End Cap Connector Rubber Coupling

This little rubber connector failed underway yesterday, and I did not spot it. It filled the engine sump with water, and the diapers were floating on top of the water, so when I looked down, I saw the diaper and everything looked ok. But, later in the day, the water level rose and something (maybe t...

Swim Ladder Replacement

Does anyone have a recommendation on a swim ladder replacement?

I lubed mine up real good, but the pole just doesn't slide in and out the way it used to. ( Ha !)

There are bunches of ladders available, but I'm not seeing one with wide/deep steps.

... but, most of all, get prepared for Maurice's jokes !! He really sucks you in with a story. The Mining Engineers Headlamp is my favorite.

If you think they're tough, try being next to Taryn Aweigh and watching Taryn clean her deck with a toothbrush !!

Re: Transmission Maintenance Schedule

Hi Harold - you might try Ben at Mastry Engine Center 727-522-9471. He's been good at tracking down odd-ball stuff for me in the past.

Re: Nova Kool Refrigerator

Easy Riders' 2003 Nova Kool is still going strong, but the suspense is killing me as to when a problem will develop. A big THANKS ! to John Cummings for suggesting that I carry some spare parts for the fridge, and milk it for as long as I can. Here's info from the Nova Kool dealer: The Thermostat, l...

Re: Princess Stove Free To Good Home

Free Princess Cooktop - I'll be happy to ship to you, all or part. Has original manual, all mounting hardware and screws. Works great EXCEPT: After lighting the burner, and allowing a while for the thingamajig to heat up, the knob pops up and the burner goes out. I've been compensating for this by u...

Boat Wrap Instead of Paint

I'm posting this on behalf of Maurice and Rene on Norcat . They just had their hulls wrapped with Every or 3M (instead of painting). Maurice says: "Honestly, we are very satisfied with the product. It took 3 days to be installed. 2 persons … has to be done indoors. Looks great and affordable $4...

Re: Flybridge seal with upper deck

Easy Riders has stopped in at New England Boatworks for a little work, courtesy of the Bavaria 46 that hit me while I was on my mooring at Block Island. I saw the yard technicians doing some caulking on the bigger yachts, and asked them to re-caulk the flybridge (The Legendary Hull #29 flybridge con...

Re: Storage around lower helm seat

Thanks Chris ! That's a great idea on the swivel, and I've added it to my notes. The seat definitely gets more use during cocktails parties than it does as a helm seat.

Re: Storage around lower helm seat

Hi All - I pulled the trigger on moving aboard Easy Risers (sold the house yesterday) ! I'm getting lined up with James do do some custom modifications this winter: - shelving and bins behind the lower helm seat - raising and re-upholstering the lower helm seat, and adding tool drawers or bins under...

Re: Lightweight Dinghy

Here's a review of the open bow Takacat inflatable catamaran dinghy from my earlier post, T260LS, 8'-6", 55 lbs. (I'm using a Torqeedo 1103CS electric outboard, 39 lbs.) Pros: The Takacat is well built and highly efficient. Easy to row upwind. Under average conditions, the Torqeedo powers her a...

Thanks everyone !

John - if I was thinking right, I would have asked you to dive the boat while you were here :) ... stern tube and cutlass look perfect.

Alan - the Sage of Palm Coast is as wise as ever !! I'll save the spun collar so you can see it in person.

Collar Around Port Shaft - Can You Identify This ??

Hi All ! We had some excitement last Saturday night during a storm at Block Island. A large sailboat blew down on my mooring and got pinned broad side on my bows. The mooring field was very crowded, with high winds and a steep chop. Once I got cut loose, it took some chaotic maneuvering and full pow...
