Off-shore boat insurance
Currenlty, my boat is insured by Boat US, but the coverage is limited to the US & Bahamas. I'm headed for Belize to spend the summer, assuming I find some alternative insurance. Can anyone recommend an insurance company that includes the Carribean?

Crew needed for Pensacola/Belize trip
I'm departing Pensacola headed for Belize on or about May 15. The Gulf crossing takes 5 days. Please contact me if you are interested in joining the crew for the crossing plus hanging out in Belize for an additional week if you like. The boat is a PDQ 36. I'll be headed back from Belize to Pensacola...

Series drogues vs para-anchors
Since catamarans sit on the water rather in the water, I'm concerned about surfing down waves and pitch poling in heavy seas. I understand that slowing the boat is important, so use of series drogues seems logical, but I have no real knowledege or experience with this. Seems like para-anchors are co...

Watermakers
I'm shopping for a watermaker and would like some advice about capasity (gallons per day). Typically, it's just my wife and I cruising with an occasional couple joining us for a few days. We like to go where fresh water is scarce. We typically shower once a day --sailor style (wet down, soap down, r...

PC as chartplotter?
I'l like to use my laptop as a chartplotter. I know I'll need to get a GPS accessory for it. What I'd like to know is whether there is software I can get that will allow the pc to use the GPS data and plot it in real time on a chart depicted on the PC screen (much the same way a stand-alone chartplo...

As I'm sure you've read elsewhere, weight is a major consideration for any cat. I can't help with LRC v. Classic loads, but I think the hulls are identical. On my classic, the first transome step is almost always awash when loaded for cruising even though I'm VERY careful about minimizing weight. Th...

You will probably the entering Nassau harbor using the west entrance. It's wide open and not tricky at all. Right after you enter the harbor area, the first thing you'll notice will be a few boats anchored near the shore on your portside. Do NOT attempt to anchor there. Those are working boats with ...

Hardtop purchase from PDQ
Has anyone purchased from PDQ a hardtop and retrofitted it on your Capella? If so, how much did it cost? Thanks, Ed

Hurricane Charlie & Punta Gorda
I understand that they are several PDQ owners in the Punta Gorda area, and they took it on the nose with Hurricane Charlie. Has anyone heard if they OK? Did the boats make it through the storm?

In-water oil change
I have 2003 4-stroke Yamahas that are due for an oil change. There's a plug in the back of the engine that's removed, and the old oil pours out. The first time I changed the oil, the boat was on the hard so preventing spillage was not a problem. Now the boat's in the water, it's hard for me to image...
