Re: Haul out / Storage / Insurance in Florida
Roger and Bonnie: Sunshine has spent a fair amount of time along the Georgia coast, but I am not aware of any yard in that state that can haul a PDQ 36. If you learn of one, please let the group know about it. We like both Brunswick Landing and Isle of Hope marinas, but neither of them can handle ou...

Re: Water Heater Again
Our Ecotherm water heater arrived today and I was surprised how well built it seems to be, considering its $129.00 price. When we get back to the boat, I hope to find a way to install it outside the cabin (maybe in the cockpit), but may end up putting it in the shower compartment as Ray did. If it d...

Re: Water Heater Again
Ray: Wow! That's a very slick unit and the price is definitely right. I have some questions: 1. Where did you mount the LP tank? OTOH, did you "T" it into the hose from the tank that supplies your stove? 2. Are using the heater for the galley as well as the shower? If so, how did you plumb...

Re: Haul out / Storage / Insurance in Florida
Sunshine and Next Exit (both 36's) are currently on the hard at Westland Marina at Titusville and, earlier this spring, there were five PDQ's there -- sort of a mini PDQ-fest. Westland is not to be confused with Titusville Municipal Marina which is immediately adjacent to it. We are very pleased wit...

Marc:
Great job! Now, you've got me thinking that it may not be such a bad idea after all. Did you consider putting some sort of "windows" in the fabric that would allow you to see the sails from the helm?

Re: Hard top bimini for older PDQ36?
Thanks, guys. This hard bimini conversion is sounding more and more like a very bad idea and I can't say that I'm surprised. Better to find out now than halfway though the project after spending who knows how many boat units. I guess we'll just recover the existing frames with some sort of waterproo...

Re: Hard top bimini for older PDQ36?
Hi, Mark: If you get a chance, a photo would be great. OTOH, maybe I can get my hands on a sample of the stuff somehow. I'm assuming that it's a cousin of Sunbrealla and can be sewn. If so, I'd be curious to know why you chose it over Sunbrella. Also, are you happy with it? I guess the lack of stret...

Re: Hard top bimini for older PDQ36?
Marc and Sandy: Thanks for your help. I'm sorry -- but not surprised -- to learn that the fiberglass top is no longer available. I wonder, though, if there might be a way to replace the soft vinyl cover over my existing frame (three bows and very sturdy looking) with some sort of rigid "fibergl...

Hard top bimini for older PDQ36?
James Powers and anyone else who can help: We are very interested in converting Sunshine's (hull 36036) from the existing soft bimini to a hard top. We would like to move the four solar panels on to it and will undoubtedly need to move the mainsheet traveller onto it as well. I believe that this har...

Hi, Terry:
Here are two shots of the starboard stateroom and one of the port stateroom (a/k/a "the garage").

Re: Extending stateroom.
Yes, we have in-mast furling -- along with four electric winches and two electric windlasses. She's a lazy man's boat.

Re: Extending stateroom.
Hi, James: Yes, the jib is self tacking and yes, the screecher (we call it a genoa) is on the port forestay. We haven't noticed the mast pumping but keep in mind we are new to sailing and it may be pumping like crazy for all we know. We'd love to meet up with you as well and to see your tri. Where a...
