Re: FL PDQ Owners
Unfortunately, I'm echoing Matt - being a bit late to the party. We have a '95 PDQ36 LRC (#47), which is kept on a mooring in West Palm Beach except for July - Oct (hurricane season) when it's on the hard in Stuart. If y'all get back this way, I'd be happy to show you our boat. And can go for a day ...

Re: Ground tackle?
Our PDQ 36 came with a 35 lb CQR on 50' of chain. We have been all around the Fla Keys, out to the Dry Tortugas and along the eastern portion of Fla. Now all of these areas are primarily sandy bottoms, but I've never had a problem with the anchor dragging - except once when a squall brought 60+ mph ...

Re: Windward or Leeward engine when motor sailing
We have a PDQ 36 LRC, so the props are further aft & outboard from the outboard style. However,
I've always noticed a distinct tendency to turn opposite whichever engine is on. This may very
well make some difference over a trip.

Re: Dry Tortugas / Marquesas (sp?)
I have taken several trips from Key West out to the Dry Tortugas (in charter boats & our PDQ). Take everything you need - once you leave Key West there is no place for supplies (including water of course). Take 2 days from Key West to the Tortugas - stop at Boca Grande or off the Marquessas the ...

Re: Hull Extensions
Mike, Per the steps, my bottom step was always underwater too. So, of course, the chainplates were always submerged as well. The extensions are delivered in two pieces, the clamshell-like hull section and the top deck. After fitting and fiberglassing in the hull section, the deck piece was fitted &a...

Re: Hull Extensions
(continuing extensions posting) The first two show the chainplate detail outside & inside. Also, the access plate covering the hole used to reach the chainplate nuts. Note that the area where the chainplate was re-installed was built-up with additional layers of fiberglass Extensions4.jpg Extens...

Re: Hull Extensions
As mentioned elsewhere, I purchased a set of hull extensions from David for our '95 PDQ36 LRC. They fit amazingly well. The transoms are a bit different in that the older steps (mine) have an bottom step & shot transom where the newer hulls have a higher transom & one less step. Still, it wa...

Re: Water in port rudder compartment
I too spent a lot of time bending & reaching & looking at my rudder post / tube / "watertight" compartment setup this past weekend. What I realized is that the rudders in the LRC actually come thru the hull at the very aft end of the engine compartment. There is a "rudder post...

Re: PDQ 36 & passage making?
Concerning the extensions, I bought them from David Kane (former owner of Pacifica). He created the original molds in order to build a set for his 36. He now has a fiberglass guy who has the molds & will build sets as ordered. My transom (& 1st step) was always submerged - the extensions bro...

Re: PDQ 36 & passage making?
I'll take a shot at this, even though my experience has been relatively limited. First, we also decided that as much as we liked the Antares (this was right after it had come out), we also concluded that it was out of our range if we wanted any dollars left to actually go cruising. Then the opportun...

Re: Water in port rudder compartment
We have a 1995 PDQ 36 LRC (# 47). I discovered water in both the starboard & port hulls a couple years after buying the boat when I had it on the hard for some outfitting. I was exploring the boat & when I opened the inspection ports (in the engine compartment aft bulkhead), I found water &a...

Re: Hull Extension Parts
Just a quick update on my experiences with these extensions. They arrived packed very well & you can tell they are very well made. The installation was quite involved - I'm happy that I hired someone to do all the fiberglass work! After splashing the boat, we brought it back to our mooring - abo...

Re: Hull Extension Parts
A quick update - I purchased a set of extensions from Dave and am now in the process of installing them. I have a 95 LRC (hull #47) and while the stern steps are slightly different than Pacifica, they look like they will fit quite well. Due to the modified step design, matching the extension top pie...
