Re: lifeline builder?

hi john,

thanks for the reply. your solution is my first choice. we're in marsh harbour for the winter. i'll be talking to the welder here on wed. he's the guy ron & roger referred to in other responses to this post.

lifeline builder?

hi all,

we had an accident and did serious damage to the starboard lifeline (stainless steel). it may need to be replaced. does anyone know the source of the original rails? i know some have gotten replacement davits from the original shop.

Re: Converting wired auto helm to wireless

hi james, i mounted the base unit on the back wall of the instrument console, right under the steering wheel. i mounted the junction box under the chartplotter. i'll say the only important part of this is that the places need to be close enough for all the wires to connect. the remote that we got ha...

Re: Converting wired auto helm to wireless

hi james, yes, the "junction boxes" are about 1x2 and will have 2 or 3 wires plugged into them. if you have this layout then the installation will go something like this: 1) find a location to mount the remote unit base 2) decide which existing junction box will start the new part of the d...

Re: Converting wired auto helm to wireless

hi james, do a search on this site for "st600r". one of the responses describes the hub. the hub type has all instrument wired back to the hub. the daisy chain type has each instrument wired to another instrument. in the cabinet behind the steering wheel look at the autopilot unit and dept...

Re: Converting wired auto helm to wireless

hi james, we had to do this last year. we bought the remote kit. once you figure out which version of the raymarine network you have it's straight forward. early boats, ours is #23, had the network as a daisy chain. later boats have a hub device. i can't help with the hub type. with the early networ...

Re: new owner with questions

hi, great news on the overheating! on to propellers. as far as i know pdq production boats were shipped with 3 blade 16x15 props. when we got duetto it could not pull max revs with full load. our local prop shop told me to get to 3800+ under full load we'd have to de-pitch to 16x13. we did that and ...

Re: Bigger dinghy?

hi, when we bought duetto we were faced with the same question. we ended up picking a 9'8" AB with a 15hp yamaha 2 stroke. the dinghy weighs 110 dry and the motor is 80, so with gas, anchor and other stuff were pushing 250. the 9'8" is close to the max which will fit between the hulls. as ...

Re: sliding screen weatherstrip

roger, good idea! when they bend the frame it narrows the groove a lot. i bought a dremel tool bit that i'm going to use to open the groove back to the original size, then i'll see if it will start to make the bend. then i'll use a little heat and some silicon spray. on another note, looks like you'...

sliding screen weatherstrip

hi all, i need to replace the "fuzzy" weatherstrip on the inside of the main cabin sliding screens. i have what appears to be the correct weatherstrip material. i have been able to get it installed in the straight runs but it will not make the bend to do the aft vertical edge. has anyone r...

Re: Battery combiner to replace Xantrex

hi don, i'm pretty sure that the "chattering" is the solenoids not staying completely closed. eventually this will cause the solenoids contact faces to burn. you might try swapping solenoids from your old combiner. i'm not an electrician but could the combiner have a bad connection which i...

Re: new owner with questions

hi bruce, couple of things: 1) the engine water heat exchanger is the last of 3 in the circuit. the first is your trans oil cooler and then the engine oil cooler. so if the exchanger was cleaned off engine you probably want to check the trans oil cooler. it maybe restricting flow. 2) couple of years...
