Re: new owner with questions
bruce, you didn't mention whether you have 75's or 100's. if you search the forum you'll find numerous threads about the port engine running hotter, with many theories as to why. i personally believe that 75's will show this problem more often because they're usually running at a higher rpm to achie...

Re: new owner with questions
hi bruce, welcome aboard. on your last point, we replaced our macerator with a diaphragm pump. as part of the conversion i installed a siphon break. initially i had it vented in the starboard fwd locker where the loop and pump are. i can't say there was any great odor but just to be safe i put a tee...

Re: Front Window Retrofit
hi jon, you must have a late 2002. i thought they had an opening window albeit not a bomar like the later boats. we have a 2003 w/o opening window. i contacted bomar about fitting one. it would cost approx $2,000 by the time you're thru. i was surprised when they told me windows were custom made in ...

sink drain strainers
hi all, this idea really comes from roger aboard "teamwork". both he and i have had reason to fish tooth paste tops out of the head sink. roger found that walmart sells a ss strainer which fits perfectly in the sink and would prevent wayward tooth paste caps from ending up down the drain. ...

Re: Battery combiner to replace Xantrex
i think you can determine if it's the xantrex electronics vs solenoids. start the engines. the alternators will raise the voltage on the start batteries which should make the combiner light go green. if this is true, check the voltage on the house bank. if it's not the same as voltage on the start b...

Re: Battery combiner to replace Xantrex
hi don, first, i'd scourer the internet and try to find a 250A xantrex combiner. the problem with the alternatives is that without resorting to "daisy chaining" i was not able to find another combiner that can handle 3 batteries. there are a couple i know of (blue seas and yandina) that ca...

4 bladed props on 75 hp?
hi all,
has anyone with 75's done any "semi-scientific" comparison between 3 and 4 blades? i'm much less concerned with the improved smoothness than i am in increased speed at the same rpm.

Re: Microwave issues
hi,
you might want to try replacing the breaker. breaker could be going bad. not sure if you can really test that.

Re: Waste Tank Level Indicator
hi ron,
i trust your summer is going well.
i've taken ours out a couple of times but never was successful in getting it to work. assuming that pdq didn't change over the years, the sender is basically a small float on a stem. i cleaned it but that didn't make it work.

aluminium propane tank?
hi all, do the 10 pound aluminium propane tanks have both inside/outside threads to connect the hose from the solenoid? our hose is the old style with a male end and i need to replace it but the female end connectors are far more available, so i need to know if i can use the newer plastic version. u...

Re: Shaft vibration
henry, i assume that you had stuart do the work. did they have to machine the new cutlass per the earlier post? how did they secure it? did they cut any extra drain slots in new cutlass to make sure water gets to stern one? we were talking about this mod this winter in marsh harbour. there are 3 of ...

transmission oil coolers
hi all, this spring i thought after 2800 hrs i'd spring for new trans oil coolers. when we hauled the boat i decided that i would get the existing ones out so the new ones would go right in in the fall. there was good news and bad news. good news was they look pretty close to new with no corrosion w...

Re: Engine Operating Temperatures for the Yanmar 75 HPs
hi, we too have the 75's. the thermostat installed by yanmar begins to open at 182 and is fully open at 195. i spoke to yanmar support years ago and they told me it was to cut down on smoking. we run 3350-3400 all day long all the time. we've got 2900 hrs on the engines. you may be able to get a ful...
