Yanmar fuel economy

Can someone direct me to the fuel economy data collected for our 100 HP Yanmar engines by someone on this list several years ago? I seem to have lost the link.

Re: flybridge supply Breaker?

Thanks. I assumed it supplied power to the flybridge chart plotter, but I left it OFF yesterday while underway and the chart plotter worked perfectly. So far, I don't see any impact from turning it off. I'll have to trace it.

flybridge supply Breaker?

Does anyone know what the “flybridge supply” breaker on the 12v electrical panel is for? It does not control the 12v outlet or the 110v outlet on the flybridge.

Re: Engine burns excessive oil at high RPM's

I thought I had updated you guys on this issue. It is resolved. The excessive oil consumption was due to a compromised seal/gasket in the oil cooler. The cooler was reconditioned and, after reinstalled, the oil consumption on our port engine now essentially matches the starboard engine. For "Te...

Re: FORWARD FUEL TANK LEAKING

For what it's worth, I asked a friend who was a senior project engineer at an marine engineering company how he would calculate the size of the tank. He said: Since you can see the width and length of the tank inside the foredeck hatch, the height of the tank can be calculated by: H = (231.02 X 70ga...

Re: FORWARD FUEL TANK LEAKING

I agree with Bob's suggestion. Besides all the top fittings on the tank, the bottom floor likely slopes downward lie the fresh water tank... making it hard to mathematically calculate the size. Cutting the tank out and replacing it seems like the best long term solution. For example, our PDQ has a d...

Re: Need Window lock

I have a spare but I'm keeping it for replacing the latch when one breaks again. Given the design, they are quite vulnerable to breaking.

There was no minimum order when I placed my order at Pompanette.

Re: Managing heat in engine compartment

Very interesting suggestion, Dick. So both areas connect all the way to the fridge area? I’ve noticed the areas in front of and on the side of each engine and wondered if they had a purpose. Do you know if there is a way for fresh air to be drawn in from behind the fridge?

Re: Anyone chnged the WHIMPY horn?

I just had the horn buttons replaced... it totally changed the horn sound from a whimpy bleat to an ear blasting honk.

Re: Managing heat in engine compartment

Duane, thanks. That was my first thought, but I don't think it's a very effective solution. As everyone here knows, the engine is rather sealed off from the overall compartment area. The only way for air to get INTO or OUT OF the engine area is through the two vent holes in the sound baffle that sit...

Managing heat in engine compartment

We had a high capacity Electromaax 180 amp alternator installed on our Port engine self-destruct recently. The source of the failure, as best we and several "experts" we consulted can determine, is 2 faulty solder connections at the rectifier on the alternator. There are no other signs of ...

Re: Priming washdown pump

I solved it. The strainer cup was not completely tight. My maint. tech guy suggested that and, after tightening it, it instantly primed and we had water flow.

Thanks for the ideas! It all helps.

Re: Priming washdown pump

Duane, if you mean our water down the deck fitting, I tried that 3 times. It only accepts a little water and it did not prime the pump.

My next thought was to remove the hose clamps on thd intake hose sync put water down it.

Priming washdown pump

Any suggestion for priming the washdown pump? After cleaning the filter on it last Fall, it has not been used. Now it doesn’t prime. The thru-hull is open and the pump runs.., I spurts of air out the deck fitting, but no water. I also tried filling the filter cup.
