Re: Decals

If you are interested in a different style decal, this is what is on our boat. Although, we also like the PDQ Yacht decal (minus the LRC 36). We prefer a white decal, or the grey color that is used on the "Yachts" part of the above logo attachment.

Re: Emergency Tiller

Sam, When you are ready to purchase/fabricate one, I can let you borrow mine in order to facilitate an easier fabrication. I drive past you guys every couple of weeks anyway, so it would be no problem to hand deliver it to you.

Re: Decals

We are in the process of repainting the blue sections and also replacing the graphics. I was going to have them done from a lettering store, but if someone wants to do a bulk buy I'd be interested as well.

Re: New Yamaha 9.9s installed

Midori, the engine install looks great. Can you give us some feedback on if the extension of the power tilt feature extending into the water below the nacelle has any negative effects. Do you get excess water in the nacelle well? Also, the new motors don't seem to have aligning pins to keep them at ...

Re: Refinishing Flooring

Sam, I never thought about installing an access panel to the wire chase. Before replacing the floor, I placed a wire pull in and felt that was sufficient. Also, as you can see in the photo, another wire can't fit through that chase unless something is removed. The main concern I had with the floor w...

Re: Bent control cables

David, we've gone through the same installation issues with the new 9.9's, but have not discovered any unusual bending of the control cables. To help you find a solution, take some pictures of the problem area and post them. I'll take the same pictures of Cat Tales and we'll hopefully see any differ...

Re: Refinishing Flooring

David, we replaced our flooring after it rotted away due to water tank leaking. The center was flexing so much that I felt as though we would break though the bridgedeck. I don't know which hull number you have, but the flooring is probably 1/2 inch marine ply with a thin teak/holly veneer. I don't ...

Re: Manual Starting of 9.9s

Auto choke shouldn't pose any problems, just give it a little throttle before and while pulling. Should start within the 1st to 3rd pull, unless the engine has been sitting a while. Then you'll need to pump some fuel into the line with the hose bulb. I'd try it once or twice while at the dock just t...

Re: Manual Starting of 9.9s

We've had to pull start a couple of times. I raise the engine to the point where the prop & intake are just barely under water (theoretically "shallow water drive position"). Then rap the pull starting rope around the flywheel, but instead of ending the rope to pull from the front of t...

Re: Galley Sinks

We have a rectangular sink divided 60/40 with the faucet mounted on the inboard cabinet wall just below the cabinet. We've also look at replacing to one large rectangul and possibly getting a different faucet with a better reach. I believe our sink is a Scandvik - http://www.scandvik.com/index.cfm/m...

Re: Diesel Air Heaters: Webasto type

Our A/C system draws 12 amps total and the heat coil draws 18 amps total (too much for our small Honda 2000, but in a pinch could work with the inverter and the generator making up 65% of the battery drain).

Re: Diesel Air Heaters: Webasto type

Our 16k btu A/C unit from Flagship Marine has electric heat instead of reverse cycle. It won't work away from the dock without a generator, but it also doesn't have the water temperature limitations that reverse cycle units have. The design is extremely safe and designed for your kind of weather. - ...

Re: Stack Pack

Is this where we put in our Christmas list for Santa? FYI...after talking to the Doyle Stack Pack sailmakers in Ft. Lauderdale, they mentioned that although existing sunbrella-type sail covers may look like they are in good shape, when they are a few years old they no longer provide any UV protectio...

Re: Starting Battery for 9.9s?

We own a Mazda Miata with a small (they are in between the size of a regular car battery and a motorcycle battery) AGM battery. The Westco battery in it has lasted over 8 years and still cranking strong. We replaced our 9.9 starting battery with this Miata AGM and it has worked out very well on Cat ...
