Re: salon windows
Bob, It is a bit messy but if you mask everything the final product comes out really nice. Hull 10 used flat acrylic windows so I have no experience in bending. I used the Sikaflex 295UV with 226 cleaner and 209 primer. I also abraded the acrylic in the bonding area with 3m abrasive pads and used 1/...

Re: Water Heater Check Valve
Thanks Roger
There is an 18" flex line from the hot (outlet) of the tank to the PEX fitting. Should I do the same on the inlet? As it is now, the blue pex fits directly into the cold (inlet) of the tank. I checked the temp./pressure rating on the PEX. It is 180F@100PSI.

Re: 9.9 Lower unit rebuild
MagicTime, No,no,no! Don't try to pry this housing out. You must remove the pinon gear at the lower end of the driveshaft (inside the lower unit gearcase) and extract the driveshaft BEFORE you can remove this part containing the seal. I will try to get a photo for you. I have a lighly used lower uni...

Re: Water Heater Check Valve
I believe the water heater is original. It is a Force 10 Model 40603. The brass check valve threads into a SS elbow which is threaded into the inlet of the tank. The blue PEX slips on the inlet side of the brass check valve. I would guess the check valve is a PDQ part?

Water Heater Check Valve
Problem; No hot water flow. The water just drips out of the faucets and eventually gets hot. Fix; After draining 6 gallons of water (waited until it cooled), I found a brass check valve at the cold water inlet to the tank. Inspecting it, I found it stuck closed, blocking the flow. After manually ope...

Re: ACCUMULATOR?
I just changed the pump to a Shurflo fixed output pump. Without an accumulator it cycles on and off rapidly with anything other than full flow (such as wide open faucet). So, I think you either use a variable flow pump without accumulator or fixed flow pump with an accumulator.

Re: Recoating the lower water pump chamber on Yamaha 9.9
Magic Time, I had a similar situation but mine was a saltblock. Yours appears to be some sort of marine growth. You might want to look at Interlux Trilux 33 antifouling paint (spray can) which is made for aluminum outdrives. They also recommend a Primocon primer but these products are very pricey. I...

Re: Power Tilt
Hey Catch 22, I see this device has a 5 1/2" setback. I think if you check dimensions in the engine well that the setback would prevent the engine from tilting up out of the water. If I wanted electro/hydraulic tilt, I think I would opt for a new set of Yamahas with that feature built in. Just ...

Re: Leek in bow along the trampolene
Donniepou, In addition to the bow and stern sealed comartments, there is a transverse (athwartrship) compartment that runs from the top aft area of the starboard anchor locker to the top aft area of the port anchor locker. This area is triangular in shape being formed by the upper deck, the undersid...

Re: Burning Oil
Tom I suspect Amytom is right. I have had several older engines leak oil out the corroded oil pan which then drips into the exhaust passage and shows up underwater at the exhaust outlet. When the engine is in the water in calm conditions, look for a sheen on the water surface near the lower unit. Th...

Re: 9.9 won't hold RPM
Sam; Check for airleaks in the fuel supply (fuel connector, priming bulb, Racor filter, fuel hose) or a fuel supply restriction (engine fuel filter, bad priming bulb, stuck float valve in carb).

Re: T9.9 lower end removal questions
Magic Time, If this motor has been submerged in seawater it may not be salvageable. I think the problem with your approach is that a steady pull using ropes, etc. will normally not be sufficient to break loose the seized parts. It takes an impact. I have attached a couple of photos. The first shows ...
