this is almost verbatim what happened to friends of ours in the alligator river in nc.

Re: Info on MV 32 wanted
dan, higher means newer. in my opinion, the powercats "stabilized" in 2004/2005 although 2005 brought major changes to the interior. 2003 and earlier seem to all be slightly different in detail. i'll check our hull number, but my guess is that you're looking at either hull #1 or the protot...

Re: Info on MV 32 wanted
hi dan,
all the 32's that i've seen (3) all have yanmars. as far as where the engines are located, it's the same on all boats. keep them clean and you won't have any odors.
i think the 32's were more evolutionary than the 34's. pdq was learning. george insana is on the list and he has a 32 in miami.

Re: Generator Installation
tom doesn't mention whether or not he has a/c. if he does, i don't think a honda 2000 will start a/c in the main salon while on an anchor.
if you don't have a/c or don't care about running it while anchored out then the 2000 is one alternative. we had one when we had our gemini 105.

Re: Generator Installation
hi tom,
have you decided which type/model you'll be installing? we have an older one and the floor is reinforced with 1/2" or 3/4" ply.

Re: READ THIS TODAY-It may save you an engine!
i noticed that on later boats(circa 06 or 07) that pdq moved the discharge to the outside of the hull. at least that way you can check it along with raw water exhaust. next summer i'm going to investigate moving it.

Re: WiFi antenna
hi sandy, i believe that there is going strictly by the wifi spec. i have recently installed a set of usb receptacles. these resemble normal 110V sockets and face plates. they are connected by 50' of twisted pair. i tested them with my hi-gain wifi antennae which is connected via usb to a powered us...

hi tom,
is the alpha a direct replacement for the engenious (i.e. wiring and just replace drivers)? why do you think the alpha is better than the engenious?
we currently use the engenious with a 9db antennae.

hi,
try going to http://www.mastry.com. they have data sheets on most engine models which contain fuel consumption curves. you'll need to know knots vs rpms.

my earlier post was talking specifically about planing speeds. it can add a full knot at about 3200 rpm.

Re: Does Shallow Water Slow You Down?
hi sandy,
i'm not sure what the hydrodynamics are but it does happen. here is the good news. when the water gets below about 7' you will pick up speed, and in fact the shallower the faster......"so do you feel lucky punk?"

hi, we replaced our dinghy davit when ours broke. we had the original fat tube davits. we got the replacements from st croix davits. they had made up a pair of prototypes for pdq but were never used. they are currently on a 2004 boat in the chesapeake. they matched the existing holes. pdq embedded a...

Re: Port engine runs hotter than Starboard.
in retrospect, the 2 most important things we did, and we did a lot!, was 1) make sure scoops have the slots facing forward 2) i used rydlyme on the raw water system.
both engines now run at the exact same temp, about 83C, even after 4-6 hours at 3200 rpms.
