Re: Engine Locks Corroded

I posted this (below) in 2014 about the lock levers being so difficult to move from lock to lift and vice-versa. Maybe it relates to your problem. "… answering my own question so that others might benefit from my experience. I hope this is fixed for good. I pulled the engines and tried to disas...

Re: Dinghy on Davits

r.e. 'how does that work" I lift the stern first, about a foot at a time and "help" the near tube over the sugar scoop with my hands until it is high enough (pull line, then lift tube, repeat). Then I go lift the bow in the same fashion. ...easier to do than describe. I did install li...

Re: Dinghy on Davits

...not a 36 but here are photos of a 10 ft + on a 32.

This dink is supposed to be 10'4" but actually measures 10'7" so it extends over the sugar scoops.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. I can now say it was 'though about' and is a bad idea.

Re: Anyone install a small diesel genset in the Altair?

My wife says we would extend our season if we could run the stateroom ac unit. So I told her I would think about it. I'm pretty sure a Honda would run the this smallish ac but I wonder if the diesel could be done. As to where, that's what I am asking. The lazaret is too small but there is space unde...

Anyone install a small diesel genset in the Altair?

Wondering about the ultra-compact Next-Gen genset. But where would it go?

Dimensions are 28* long x 15" wide x 15" high at a dry weight of only 160 lbs.

Anyone do this? Is this a bad idea?

Re: PDQ 32 hatch type

On TomKat there is a label on the inside of the hatch That reads BOMAR with a number beneath. I believe it is the model number (e.g. 95005654 in our case).

I hope that this helps.

Re: Bomar lens replacement 16 1/2 square

Brian Last summer, my sailmaker stepped through the port side salon hatch (the large hatch in the salon). Is this the lens that you need to replace? He replaced the lens a week later but did not remove the frame. I did not see him do it but he did call me twice to get the exact model number so he co...

Re: Air Conditioning Intake

The starboard side is forward and the port one is aft(ish). The second unit is under the port berth and it feeds both staterooms with ducts going under the lazaretto compartment and entering the stateroom on the aft bulkhead. This seems to work well but the aft unit needs a sump for condensate where...

Re: Air Conditioning Intake

Here are some photos of unit and of the cooling water intake pieces. The "T" just after the strainer feeds a wash down pump. I removed the cabinet and just left the cabinet front in order to fit an Engle drop-in refrigerator, replacing the propane model. But the intake stuff fits under the...

Re: Air Conditioning Intake

The intake, pump and strainer are under the fridge cabinet. The unit (compressor/ condenser / evaporator) is under the port settee in the salon. It discharges right below the unit through the bridge deck. I did not install it but it has ducts into the galley and one each port and starboard (top of e...

Re: Air Conditioning Intake

TomKat has two units and the forward cabin unit is under the port salon seat behind the galley cabinet. The water intake is in the port hull under the cabinet which is below the refrigerator. The strainer and cooling pump feed both ac units and are also mounted in this space below the waterline. Dan...

Reducing engine vibration/ resonance to reduce noise

Does anyone have any experience with trying to dampen the resonance to reduce engine noise on the 9.9's? I recently found this product called vibra-stop http://www.qwikmarine.com/product_p/vsst2-10.htm I wonder if it will work. Any thoughts from the experienced members would be appreciated. Dan Haun...
