We didn't have lumber on board but a length of tubular webbing did the trick with no harm to the hardtop. Go with the padding recommendation. The lift was easy but the engine clamps required some PB blaster, some patience and an adjustable wrench. Good luck.

Re: Remedy for difficult tilt lever operation - post 2006 ya
… answering my own question so that others might benefit from my experience. I hope this is fixed for good. I pulled the engines and tried to disassemble the brackets but the tilt tubes would not budge. I did get to grease everything else and inspect closely but could not get grease under the tilt l...

Remedy for difficult tilt lever operation - post 2006 yamaha
Hi everyone, I know that this has been discussed on pre-2006 9.9HT Yamahas but I wonder if the post 2006 models have an easier remedy. The tilt lever has become increasing difficult to operate and requires a 6 inch wrench to operate from the unlock to lock position. There is considerable squealing w...

Re: engine noise
TomKat had the lead lined foam covering the sides and top of the engine well but it was trying to fall off and I was constantly taping it up and adding adhesive. I removed it all and did not notice any difference in noise level. My brother-in-law is a musician and he say that 80% of the noise is the...

Re: Critter entrance at the slider
Tom, Our boat has such a row of bristles. I can't get a photo right now but it looks like weatherstripping and is about 1/2 inch width total with about 1/4 inch bristles. It has a very light surface rust pitting on the metal portion so I suppose it is not "marine grade". We have only had t...

Triton or Rolly Tasker mainsail?
Hi all, I searched old threads but thought to start a new one. My mainsail needs replacing before the season starts. I have bids from Triton and National Sail (Rolly Tasker) with the National Sail bid being about $500 less if we reuse the battens. I would have a hard time working with a local sailma...

Re: Kayaks
We have two Ocean Kayak Frenzy models (9 foot) stacked on the davits of our PDQ 32 and they fit and stack nicely. I added some fixed lash points to the davits using large SS U bolts some delrin blocks and fairleads. To further lock the kayaks together I made 18 inch "pins" of heavy PVC ( I...

Re: Removing the propane refrigerator
Thanks, James. I also wrote the previous owner via email and I post part of his response here to serve as a reference for future searchers. It turns out that he replaced the original some years ago. It seems to take some disassembly and bit of ballet. I quote: "It took 2 or 3 healthy volunteers...

Removing the propane refrigerator
Hi All,
It seems that refrigerator removal via the salon would be impossible given the stated dimensions of the Dometic RM 2410.
I searched the forum archive and found this question posted twice but I don't see any responses.
Please give me a hint.
Thanks in advance.

Re: The Extra "Red Wire" when changing engines
Hi Jim:
We have hull #11 with the new engines and we do not have any such wire or apparatus on the fire wall.
...sorry I can't help you further. Could it be some sort of add-on tachometer interface? We do not have tachometers.

Re: water leaking from shower into starboard bilge
It think your are correct about the PO, Thinwater. I don't have any plate to remove.
Do you think it better to drill into the riser of the step (that the head is mounted on) or remove the head first and drill down?

water leaking from shower into starboard bilge
Hi All, I found this problem described by amytom in a previous post but I did not find the solution. About 1/2 of the shower water finds it's way to the sump but the other half gets to the bilge. I obviously need to change the hose or fitting under the shower pan but I do not see an obvious way to a...

Finally solved problem reaching full rpm
I am posting this so that it might help someone else in the future. My starboard engine has had a problem reaching full rpm at wot. At first it was intermittent and would come and go but recently it was mostly gone but full power might kick in for few seconds. I don't have tachs but you could tell b...
