Conway Arch

I had Mr. Conway put an arch on hull 83 in 2000 and I am very pleased and have no complaints. Mine is festooned with a 300# dingy, two solar panels, two antennas, a flag staff and an AirX wind generator. Fox tail to follow. I had tabs put on in case I decided to guy my wind generator (I don’t use th...

Chris I had the same problem with both of my transoms. This was when the boat was two years old. I had never used any mechanical advantage to tighten the mounting screws. I pulled the engines first. I drilled a row of staggered holes the full width of the transom, 3/8 diameter and all within 3/4ths ...

I had the same problems. You may snap the roll pin that holds the lever. If so, a drill bit cut to length will work fine. The pins are quite expensive from Raymarine. I fixed mine for two years, eight repairs, before I just bought a 4000+(the grey unit). No problems with it so far, knock on wood.

Hi Chet
I hope to be in the Exumas by January also. Hope to see you there.
Thanks for the tip. I'll start with the SSB. I think I may have to break a number of connections if I can't find the exact source.

Outboard mech in Oriental

Roger
I had great luck with Gene Wooster in Oriental. His number is 252 745-5616. He started my repair the day after I called him, saying he gave priority to transients. Don't know if your route will take you through Oriental this year.

Galvanic Corrosion

I am having a problem with galvanic corrosion on my 9.9s These engines are Canadian 2005 models, same size as the old ones. They started eroding as soon as they were installed and it has continued. I talked with the dealer and he said the external wire we run for alternator output is definitely not ...

I also got an arch from Mr. Conway, and I am very pleased.
If you are planning on running wire inside the arch, BE SURE that the holes at the base/attach points are as large as possible. I had to enlarge mine after the arch was installed, and it is very thick SS. A long difficult chore.

Hi Sandy
I was in a situation where I had to quickly get my hull number on. I just used a magic marker in a forward locker, covered with clear epoxy. USCG has inspected it twice with no complaints.

Installing Honda 15's

Hi, and welcome to the POA. I bought a Honda 15 for my dink, thinking this would be a good trial to see if I wanted them for the mains. Great engines, but you have to pull the right lower side of the engine off to change the oil filter. I will wait until I pull one of my Yamahas and fit check the Ho...

Hi Kevin My engines are 2000 models with 1800 hours on them. Still going strong. I do a good annual maintance. Impellers have been replaced, timing belts changed at 1500 hours (noticeable improvement in operation) and the usual 100 oil changes. I also use Yamaha de-carbonizer. It seems to help. Back...

Re-bushing props

If any of you have old props that have spun, you can get a new bushing put in for $30 at Frank and Jimmy's prop Shop in Ft. Lauderdale. Lots cheaper than a new prop. Don't throw those old ones away, someone here will want them for refurbishing :-)
