Re: FORWARD FUEL TANK LEAKING
A bladder tank may seem easier from the standpoint that the deck wouldn't need to be opened up, but the forward tank is very complex with 7 holes with fittings in the top. I can't imagine how that could be successfully done with a flexible bladder. A new aluminum tank is the best long term solution....

Re: Looking for solar panels
Gerry, I forgot to say that we never had to use the generator at anchor except for a short time in the mornings to make coffee and toast. The coffee maker and the toaster using the inverter draws the batteries down too far for my comfort. Plus we exercise the generator which is kinda not needed with...

Re: Fort Myers area Boatyard
River Forrest is the cleanest boat yard we have seen, owned by one of the biggest names in the marine industry. They have a pretty good bottom painting deal in their off season which is going to end pretty soon.

Re: Looking for solar panels
Gerry, I worked with E-marine and bought a Solar Tech 285 watt panel for the aft bimini with a Victron MPPT 100-30 and a dongle so that I can monitor the charge parameters from my I-phone. We've used it a lot at anchor for as long as a week. Works great. E-marine was easy to work with. Our first don...

Re: FLAG MAST
We have a 2006 34mv with a cover over the aft deck. We looped a line through the u shaped ring welded to the back of the mast near the top and around the top support tube of the aft deck cover directly below. We installed 4 flag clips in the line at the appropriate places. We pulled it very tight an...

Re: Hardtops-a-building for Looking Glass
Has anybody looked into or tried the "Hard-to-top" product? They custom build it to your specs. It attaches to your bimini bows and weighs just over 100 pounds and I think would cost us less that $1500. A little over twice the replacement cost of my tired bimini but would be permanent. Bob...

Re: Boat Maintenance Log
I prefer the old fashioned paper method to an excel spreadsheet because most of my entries occur on the boat when my computer is not available. Also, I usually want to check my log when I'm on the boat, so I use a cash book bought from Staples. It has just the right number of columns. The narrow one...

Re: Steering Fluid Reservoir
There isn't really a tank type reservoir. The upper helm acts as the reservoir. I simply remove the "nut" on the top on the top of the steering helm unit and look inside. If I can see the gear mechanism, I add a bit of oil using a very small funnel. I seem to have to do this several times ...

Move Water Heater
My boat, 2006 34 #83, tends to sit at rest with the bow up and listing a bit to the port side. I have a good 3 inches of bottom paint showing at the bow and less that an inch on the transom of the port hull. I assume that the boot stripe has not been changed and PDQ placed it in the same place on al...

Re: Irma
I posted a reply about a half hour ago but it must not have sent. I'll try it again. Gusto made it through Irma without a scratch in her slip in St Petersburg. When we evacuated, Irma was heading straight for St Pete. The fact that Irma jogged a little to the right after it clobbered Naples saved us...

Re: Irma
Gusto came out of Irma without a scratch in St Petersburg thanks to Irma cutting to the east after it clobbered Naples. We are blessed and humbled that we came out OK but feel for the folks that took the brunt of the storm as well as the flooding after Irma passed. We are helping them through our ch...

Gusto is triple tied in her slip at St Petersburg Yacht Club. It will be a miracle if she survives. Sad.

Re: Power Cat Electronics
We chose to go with Garmin, a 7612 chartplotter on the bridge, a 7610 chartplotter below, 18" raydome, a depth sounder sensor, the ghc20 autopilot display at the lower helm, the big smart pump because we have 2 steering cylinders, autopilot remote control for the bridge, rudder feedback unit, p...

We are replacing all of the electronics on our 2006 34' Power cat. The old Raymarine electronics works fine. We just want the new stuff. Will sell the E120 and E80 chart plotters, ST6001 Smart pilot display, auto pilot remote, autopilot pump, rudder feedback unit, radar dome, all the gray boxes unde...
