Re: SSB?

99.9% of the folks that install Dynaplates do it incorrectly. The typical installation is to thru-bolt it to the bottom of the hull. Most installers can't resist the urge to coat the side touching the hull with 5200. A MUCH better way to install the Dynaplate is to put a sheeve around each bolt betw...

Two 2003 Yahama 9.9s 4 parts

I recently installed Honda 15s, so now I have two 2003 Yahama 9.9s for sale for parts (best offer). Both were running when I removed them, but I have no idea how many hours are on them. Will sell them individually. Ed

Louisiana & Texas sailing

I'm taking Tranquility to the New Orleans Jazz Fest and am considering a cruz further west along the Louisiana & Texas coast, mainly cuz we haven't been there. I know there are some Texas owners, so any suggestions would be appreciated. How does it compare to sailing along the Florida Pan Handle...

Re: leaving the bahamas

Welcome to the PDQ community and congrats on your new boat. You'll love it! I've crossed the Gulf of Mexico (from Pensacola) and sailed to Honduras a couple of times. It's all about the weather and picking a good window and having a crew who know what they are doing. I've also (stupidly) made a 50 m...

Re: Boardings in Nassau Harbor

This is yet another reason to avoid Nassau. The ONLY reason I go there is to meet family or crew at the airport. I try to skedaddle as quickly as I can. Less is more when it comes to that place. E

Thanks, Ed

Thanks, Bob, but no need to send thr sketch. I've done the repairs. Tex, the bulkhead on hull #17 is 1" plywood, with fiberglass reinforcement at the seams. PDQ may have changed to all-fiberglass bulkheads in later models, but my guess is that they started coating all of the plywood with fiberg...

Adding a water maker has been my favorite "toy." My second is adding a portable Engel freezer, which fits nicely in the aft cabin. It's been REALLY great to have. Nothing quite like eating ice cream in the out-islands of the Bahamas in July! ...not to mention plenty of ice. We like to stoc...

Check out the recyled used marine gear / marine salvage stores -- the guys that sell used boat stuff on consignment. They typically have an array of odd things like short sections of rub rails for sell. Here are some websites -- you can email them to see if they have what you need. Good luck, Ed htt...

...so if you get a dishwasher, then there's more time (& energy) for the the other toy! BTW, I've removed the doors, but not the frames. The easiest way to remove the doors is to remove the screws attaching the hinge to the frame. That way, the hinges stay attached to the door. The door frames o...

This "toy" thing has really got me curious. So I'm thinking, "Why might Cat Tales be reluctant to just say what it is he's trying to get through that door?".... which of course then led me to begin speculating what that "toy" might be... Possibilities include: It could ...

New Upholsery Question

I'm planning on putting new upholsery on the couch in the main saloon of my 36 and am wondering what recommendations y'all have in terms of fabric.

Aside from appearance, I'd like something soft to the touch, uv & dirt resistant.

Thanks, Ed
