Bedding the forward baby stay
We are starting get some leakage through the baby stay. I'm pretty sure that is the source because the forward port corner of the Stbd cabin mattress is getting wet and the wall carpet has stains near the chainplate bolts. Any suggestions from someone that has dealt with this - any surprises or beat...

Re: Source for crossbeam??
Not what your year model crossbeam is like, but on our 1991the fiberglass is laid up with a metal rub rail for support across the top. The rub rail stock is available from TACO marine metals. Shortly after we first bought II the Max we had a run in with a channel marker with a faulty light, luckily ...

Re: Poor mans hardtop project
Well, we all have our projects... Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) is available in the paneling section of Home Depot or Lowes, about $35 per sheet. I really like the look of the poly carbonate and may look into that at a later date. For now our Bimini is ragged and needs immediate replacement. M...

Poor mans hardtop project
After multiple quotes to replace our Bimini at and over $2,500 (and those quotes are for only adding zippers to the new top to use our existing curtains and windshield) I've opted for Plan B. It took about an hour to design a simple aluminum square tube frame that will mount on the existing Bimini b...

Re: Leek in bow along the trampolene
We have a 1991 PDQ 36 and there are Pyhi style inspection ports in the back of the forward lockers - not sure how the 34's are. You might check with Mike on the Zero to Crusiing website or Drew (you'll see his posts here) - they are both very familiar with the 34's. On the 36's they are not easy to ...

Things are awafully quiet...
Thought I would post something... we've been busy this year and are just starting to get II the Max ready for a trip over labor day weekend.
I guess eveyone else has been too!

Looking for a repair kit for this galley sink fixture
I've tried a couple of marine stores including Fawcetts in Annapolis and direct to Scandvik - no luck. This was stock in our 1991 PDQ 36 - it's beginning to leak on a regular basis, requires just the right wiggle to stop it. If anyone has any ideas before we replace it, please let us know... the way...

Re: Heading south down ICW
You, Cape Charles, and weather... there seems to be a connection there!
Much better to have safe spot to ride it out than be in the middle of it. Cheers and forget about that fair winds hooey - you want "deep and wide!"
Bon Voyage!

Re: air conditioning
We have a 1991' PDQ 36 with a 16,000 BTU Mermaid AC\Heat (reverse cycle) in the summer we use a combination of white poly tarps to shade most of the cabin top and get some airflow across the deck. Startup on this unit is about 14-16A, running it is 6-9A load - the positive is that we have kept the b...

2012 PDQ OWNERS GET TOGETHER IN ANNAPOLIS Sail show?
All, Might as well use last years post... things have been quiet and it was still showing in the "General" column. With the boat show coming Oct. 4 - 8th this thought I would see what the interest level is for a 2012 PDQ get together. Linda and I would be glad to host an evening at our hou...

Re: Proper prop pitch for PDQ 36 with YGM20s
We have a 1991 PDQ36 with a single Yanmar in the port hull and the prop we have is an Autoprop 3 blade feathering and it works great for us. We've had the boat for over 6 years now. I don't think the previous owner did much in the way of maintenance - two years ago while we in the yard for maintenan...

Replacement fuel tank
Looks like our fuel tank has seen it's better days - waiting the on the final quote from the fabrication shop. Estimate is about $1000 ($750 labor and about $250 in materials). The upper tanks is in good condition but the bottom panel is pitted, there were a couple of non-certified shops that said t...

Re: PDQ 32 LRC
II the Max is a 91' PDQ 36 and unique in that it has a single Yanmar diesel in the port hull. It's mounted under the aft berth, and with proper insulation it's really pretty quiet. Although with twin outboards you have a backup motor, diesels are very reliable and the small Yanmars burn about 1/2 ga...
