I just measured mine last weekend for Dave Calvert, who's making my new sails. I measured 39' 2". Keep in mind that this is not from the very top of the mast. It's attaching the tape measure to the halyard and raising until it stops. Then I measured down to the top of the small platform that th...

Hi guys,

Here in Chicago's Monroe harbor I use a set of 14' Yale Cordage pennants that I ordered from Hamilton Marine in Maine. They're great. They have anti-chafing sleeves and are really well made. I don't have any problem with bumping up against the ball.

No Problem.

BTW, I've been thinking about a new main sail for next year. You mentioned Calvert. Have you used them before? I was thinking about calling them....I'd love to get a main which has more roach than the stock main.

It's Sunrise Yacht Products. They're in Pinellas Park, FL Phone 813-526-9288 http://www.multihullnets.com They just did a tramp for my 1996 PDQ 36 LRC (36052) last year. They did a great job. They should still have my measurements; ask them about a net they did for Brendan Burke in Chicago. Send me ...

Thanks guys.

I'll take a look at the bow light.

I have an "owners manual" with my boat, but it doesn't have the specs down to that level of detail. Glad to know that we may not all have the same bulb, though. Should make the process more interesting...

Thanks again.

Masthead light bulb?

Hello all, I hope the start of the season is treating you well. I need to replace the masthead light on my PDQ 36. Before I climb up there, does anyone know the exact bulb/fixture that I need? I have a 1996 model (Hull #52). I called PDQ and left a message, but everyone there seems extremely busy......

Kevin, Glad you got in OK. Too bad about the fuse and all, but sounds like no big deal. I lost your direct email, so thought I'd write you here. Feel free to call me if you need help next time. I'm always up for a day off work... I won't be pulling into Monroe for another 3 weeks, but I'm sure I'll ...

bottom paint

Dutch,
Thanks for the info. The previous owners marina finally got back to me and said they were using "Pettit Unipoxy or Interlux fiberglass bottom coat". I'm pretty sure it's the Pettit, though.

Thanks again

Which bottom paint?

Hello all, I'm getting ready to do the bottom paint on my 1996 36. It was last painted before I bought her last year. The previous owner's maintenance people haven't been super responsive, so I thought I'd ask here. I'm not sure exactly what the bottom paint is on her right now. Does anyone know wha...

Anyone in Miami?

Hello all,
It's the 14th of Feb. and I'm down in Miami for the boat show and for an ASA class. Any PDQ folks visiting? Perhaps we can get a beer at the show.

most info is from beach cats

Hobie Gary on the beachcats.com list has done a great deal of research on mast bend. Google hobie gary and you'll find him (even thoug he sails a Mystere these days). Very knowledgable and nice.

my bench for a 96 LRC

Hey guys, been meaning to post the pics of my installation since I promised to do it this summer. Got the bench fabricated from PDQ (wasn't cheap). I was easy, though. Just dropped it on the boat and bolted it in. Here are the pics: http://img303.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc002821eo.jpg http://img...

Thanks Ron

Looking at a couple pictures I took of the boat when it was on the hard before I bought it, that sounds about right. My keels seem to extend a liitle forward of the major bulkhead, probably to about halfway through the length of the master cabin. So just before and after the keel sounds right. With ...

Haul Out strap placement?

Hi all, I'm getting my 1996 36' hauled out later this week for the first time (just got it this spring). They're using one of those Travel-lifts with 2 giant straps. Does anyone have a specific recommendation for where the straps should be placed for proper balance and to avoid damaging props, skegs...
