Sorry about the repeated photo posts. Has anyone ever seen this kind of damage? I have been messing with boats for a long time and not seen this before.

What is going on with my boat.
Friends, my 36 has some issues that are making me rather nervous. I have included photos. Between the forward lower window and the chain plate on the port side, there are numerous stress cracks. Between the aft lower window, there are also fewer and less intense cracks as well as at the ends of the ...

Re: Replacement of salon windows on a 36
Are you asking about the plastic panes in the windows? They are reasonably easy to cut. Did all ten of mine last summer, bought rectangles cut to size from a local plastics guy here in WA and cut them to the template myself with a Bosch hand elec. jig saw and the right blade for the type of plastic....

Re: Cockpit Enclosure
Very Very late response but Breezy Upholstery and Canvas in Seattle did our full cockpit enclosure. Not cheap but very good. H had a contact who did a heavy duty S.S. frame for us. Marc

Stress cracks at window fames
Just replaced the cabin windows on my 1991 36. Looking at the frames I suspect it was the third or fourth set of windows, at least one if not two previous were screwed into the frame. The set I removed was held on by silicone but were almost the exact size of the opening. There are numerous gel coat...

window replacement question
Have two windows on my 36 that are falling out and all need replacement due to clouding. But the two that are falling out are oversize with a bevel so the narrow side of the bevel fits in the frame. The two sit proud of the surface of the cabin considerable. They are 1/4" thick and put in with ...

Recognze this control cable?
Anyone recognize this make of control cable, It is what's on my 36 and it's Yamahas. It appears to have a wire coil cover. One engine control are just a bit stiff. Having used Yamaha cables in the prior cat, it it gets more stiff, it would be signal to change it before it breaks. In this case, it mi...

Suggest a sail maker
I am going to need new genoa for my 36, 1991. Any recommendations? I will talk to the local sailmakers here in Seattle as well. Thought there might be a competent maker with experince with the class.

Re: Bottom of keel photo and question
While our buyers survey revealed blisters in the port keel, when we next hauled we had water in the port keel as well. The starboard keel was fine, no blisters, none in the hull. The keel was drained and these were dried and repaired. But somewhere along the line someone had faired the joint down th...

Can 2019/2020 manual tilt Yamaha 9.9s be used on a PDQ 36?
Friends, I have been considering repowering our 36, replacing the old Yamaha 9.9s with a pair of new manual tilt motors. A major motivation is that I am considering keeping the vessel in salt water rather than inside the locks in Seattle. The old 9.9s have trouble with salt accumulation. The distrib...

Using 2019/20 manual tilt Yamaha 9.9s on a 36
I was considering re-powering my 36 with a pair of new manual tilt 9.9s until I talked with the local Yamaha distributor. He said the new manual tilt motors cannot use remote starting. It is difficult for me to believe that there is no hack around this. I have converted old style 9.9s from local to ...

Re: New Yanmar outboard
Wouldn't do this to a PDQ but there was a catamaran in British Columbia with a big outboard on a turntable in the cockpit. High bridge deck clearance so he had to get custom shaft extensions made.

Re: Corroded holding tank access plate
This is an old topic but I never finished it. The Remove suggestion was miraculous. I used the locally available version to remove old excess caulking around the plate prior to trying to slice it it off the tank then neutralized it. Came back the next day and the whole old aluminum plate lifted off ...

Re: original construction materials
N activity here in a while but I thought I would post a reply. My 36, 1991 Honu recently was hauled. The hulls and one keel were pristine, no blisters. One keel had a couple of major blisters and had filled with water. Got to wondering if that one keel was polyester resin and the remainder vinyl est...

Re: Corroded holding tank access plate
Thinwater, amen to that. The tank is glass with the aluminum plate bolted through. Somebody years ago had plumbed it with that bronze/brass elbow. I had hoped to be able to remove the plate but the bedding will not release nor soften with heat. Current plan is to sand around the plate, cut it out an...
