Re: House Bank Batteries

MIDORI is on her 4th season on two NAPA 6 volt deep cycle batteries. In fact we bought the second pair 1 year later when we expanded to 4 batteries and the system is holding up well. Yes I know all 4 should be purchased at the same time, I will do that when I refresh the batteries. We charge the sys...

Re: Dinghy survey

Here is a photo with the dinghy up while at rest in the mooring field, we leave the motor on. When traveling, we remove the engine and it is attached to the stern rail. See the motor mount in the photo. When traveling, the dinghy is raised as high as possible, touching the davits with the bottom of ...

BOMAR hatch/port

MIDORI suffered a little damage when the main sheet caught on the starboard aft hatch. The BOMAR frame is bent (a little) and the lens is cracked. The aprox. outside measurement of the port is 17 X 11 1/2 does anyone know where parts can be had. I am sure I am not the first to have this damage, is t...

Re: Fastener size - bay windows on PDQ 32

Were you able to get a #10 screw with a snap to attach an exterior window shade?

We want to install sun protection for both the side and front LEXAN sidelights on MIDORI.

We haven't found hardware to use the existing # 10 screw holes to attach sun covers.

Any suggestions?

Re: Batteries and charger

Last season prior to our departure to the Exumas, we had an IOTA DLS 75 installed. Our Honda 2000 runs this charger, but turn the ECO throttle off for the initial charge. We have 4 NAPA golf type batteries in the engine wells and one 12 under the step. No problems. MIDORI spends the summer on the ha...

Re: Dinghy survey

We have a West Marine 310 RIB and an 8HP 2 STROKE Yamaha and are very pleased. On our 32 the dinghy davits hold the dinghy length on top of the sugar scoop and still allow acess. Go for the ridged floor for durability and the 2 stroke for HP with low weight. We use a single block attached to the boo...

Re: New Yamaha 9.9s installed

Hello to everyone. MIDORI has had one full season of opperation with the new 9.9's. Our season started in Brunswick Georgia, south to Boot Key Harbour in Marathon Florida, departing Boot Key directly to Nassau . We spent a couple months in the EXUMAS going as far south as Staniel Cay. Our return tri...

Water leak from Compression post

In a hard rain I have a leak from the bottom of the compression post. It appears that water is dripping from the wire loom that rums down the mast. Has anyone had the same issue? Any suggestion how to deal with the leak or stop the water?

OK so now we are in the islands. Nothing goes into the tank that we haven't eaten first. There appears to be something blocking the pick up inside the holding tank!! Lots of suction, nothing being picked up or pumped out. Any sugggestions? We use vinegar regularly, could there be a calcium build up ...

Re: New Yamaha 9.9s installed

Reply to Carib Sailor I have only used the choke once and that was manually. Typically with the new binnacle, I set the throttle at fast idle, and after 2 or 3 attempts, the engines start and I let them warm for 5 to 10 minutes. The new ignition panel is designed to push key to choke while starting,...

Re: New Yamaha 9.9s installed

In respnonse to AMYTOM 1. I questioned the dealer on the corrosion exposure, he responded that most power boats have the engine bracket in the water. Note there is a second ANODE on the engine bracket to assist in preventing corrosion. 2. The engine could be lifted, but too much lift would defeat ha...

Re: New Yamaha 9.9s installed

MIDORI has only 59 hours of motoring/motor sailing on the ICW for performance to date. The power trim bracket does drag in the water and there is more water in the nacelle, however, the nacelle is self draining. The water will gush up between the transom and the engine bracket. I have not experienced...
