Never been to the Exumas, would be interested in trying to get down there for a week around Thanksgiving. Does anyone know of a quality bareboat company who is in the Exumas? Catamaran prefered but not absolutely required. Or any owner who has a boat there that wants to make a deal for my chartering...

My mechanic and I spent an hour or so troubleshooting. Finally, we found that the starter mechanism had come loose, so when the engine was being revved, it was probably rattling the starter wheel against something, causing some electric current in the engine. This traveled up the cables to the shift...

Life Expectancy of Yamaha 9.9s?
I pose this question as an open one, and I would like to get as many owners as possible to provide their input here: For the original engines (Yamaha 9.9s), - how many hours (and years) are on your engines? - salt-water or fresh-water? - do you have plans to (or have you) replace them? Any other tho...

Electric shock from Yamaha 9.9
Just finished crossing Lake Michigan today - 20-30 knots of wind, broad reach, 6-8 foot waves. A fast, rough ride. Anyway, when we got to the harbor, Dawn starts the engines and puts them in gear. The port engine has a little trouble starting. On the port engine, I get an electric shock "tingle...

Two years ago, I had a new mainsail made for Phenix 32007, it was done here in Chicago with a local sailmaker. He did not use the exact shape of the old main, he changed the shape of the roach a bit and moved the battens slightly. It is a cruise-lamb sail (a mylar blend, I think). He put a dutchman ...

Viewing all posts on one screen, regardless of what forum
This format takes way too many clicks to be useful. It's so hard just to see what is new or to actually respond to a question. I looked into this. In addition to using the "viewing post since your last visit", you can try the following to eliminate the forum sectioning from your view of t...

Identifying all your posts with your hull number
in the Profile, I used the LOCATION field to identify my boat name and location, as this LOCATION goes on the left side of each of your posts.
