Mooring PDQ 36 at public mooring

Haven't picked up a mooring in 30 years, and never from a PDQ 36. What type of mooring bridle do you use, if any. Any tips and trips for picking up a mooring from a mooring ball?

Replace bilge pumps hoses

Tried to pull new bilge pump hoses today with no success. Single Whale manual bilge pump is located on center line, aft cockpit. Long bilge pump hoses run from beneath sole in both bow cabins. Bilge pump hose in port cabin appears to be suspended from sole? Can't be pulled forward or aft for replace...

Standing rigging replacement

I made a similar post on the PDQ 36 Forum, but I'd also be interested in hearing from PDQ 32 owners, since their boats are of similar construction and vintage. I recently read that standing rigging on catamarans should be routinely replaced after not more than twenty years. I understand that conditi...

Standing rigging replacement

I recently read that standing rigging on catamarans should be routinely replaced after not more than twenty years. I understand that condition issues could be reason to replace standing rigging earlier. I'm interesting in learning about standing rigging replacements from Forum members. What conditio...

Gelcoat update

Ahoy, Peace. Did the Silver Haze fit the bill? Good match? We're planning to undertake some gelcoat repairs and would appreciate reassurance that Silver Haze is the real deal.

New mainsail advice

I'm across the Neuse River from the "sailing capital of North Carolina", but it wasn't easy to buy sails locally. I had a North salesman who would not return my initial calls. I had a local sail loft that would not take a short ferry ride to measure the boat and another local loft that wou...

Mainsail outhaul line replacement

I'm trying to figure out how to replace the mainsail outhaul line and I'm coming to the daunting conclusion that I may have to remove the mainsail, remove the boom and remove the rivets in the boom cap ends, just to get at the gooseneck end of the outhaul line? My outhaul from the clew is a piece of...

Repowering with Suzukis

I had been laying low on the subject of repowering with Suzukis since I thought that I'd get pummeled by all of the Yamaha loyalists. As my earlier post suggests, we were held hostage by Yamaha and a 5 month plus backorder. We had to repower by deadline. The Suzukis run like a charm, but there are q...

Re: Gasoline tank sending unit

Ordered a fuel guage, wiring harness, fuel level sender and "cut and calibrate" on the sender. Service was very good. Installation was straightforward (though I had an electrician do it, since he was on board for a different issue). I've attached a scan of the invoice from 12/07/2010.

History, Make and Models of the 36.

We researched and shopped for a few years. I found the English Web site "Multihull Maven" helpful. "Multihull Maven" breaks down the models, but them fails to fully define the evolution. However, it is worth a look. Shopping for outboards or diesels with saildrives(LRC)? If you c...

One man's trash - Yamaha 9.9 spares anyone?

We bought Nalani in south florida and had a deadline (was it 90 days) to get her out of Florida to avoid a whopping sales tax. Yamaha 9.9s were backordered for 5 months (with no guarantees after that). We couldn't find a dealer who would dismantle Hondas and drop them into the hole. So, we bought Su...

"Mail Order" Sails

I going to be working with three local lofts on a new jib and mainsail. I'm intrigued by less expensive, "mail order" sails, but I'm intimidated by the measurements required. Is there a pre-existing, sailmaker database that sailmakers use to crank out "mail order" sails? Our old ...

Sailmaker Recommendations 2010

I saw posts about sailmakers Calvert and Triton on a 2008 thread. Anyone had more recent experiences with other sailmakers or Calvert or Triton? I've got Doyle, North and Ullman locally and I'm in the initial stages of contacting each of these. I'd prefer to work with a local sailmaker (with a direc...

Gasoline tank sending unit

Our fuel gauge is reading erratically/erroneously. I'd like to replace the gasoline tank sending unit. I can't seem to locate a sending unit on the Internet that looks like/works like the damaged one. Can anyone recommend a gasoline tank sending unit to replace the factory original?
