hi,
i asked around and know a few people who stayed there. general consensus was that it was relatively affordable and no one reported any red flags.

Re: Looking for a good yard for MV34 haul out
we have friends who used to store at one of the yards in green cove springs (not a cat) and liked it.

Re: Turbo Installation Question / Troubleshooting
fwiw, years ago we had our injectors serviced at a local diesel shop. we have 75s. when i re-installed and took out for test we could barely make 2600 vs our normal 3400. engines ran smoothly but just maxed out. removed and went back to the shop and went over what they did, incl installing some new ...

Re: Generator water intake obstruction
one last suggestion. smear some marine grease on the strainer seal. it will make sure there is a good seal.

Re: Generator water intake obstruction
just for my information, is the pump new with genset or original? and while i'm at it why do you have a new genset? baring any revelation from my previous question, my assumption is you have an air leak between the pump intake and the "tube", which is bonded into the hull. again i assume t...

Re: Generator water intake obstruction
this may or may not apply. friends of ours had a 34 that had trouble holding a prime. we debugged it down to the joint where the builtin tube providing the water from the thruhull mates to hose going to pump. could you have a small air leak which is preventing pump from exerting max suction? we have...

Re: Generator water intake obstruction
did you let it run for say an hour? i think you need to see if it can run the way you would use it. if it passes the run test then worry about the clouds. also, i assume you have the o-ring for the pump cover.

Re: Generator water intake obstruction
take the following with a grain of salt, since i don't have a nl. if you can see the pump cover and remove it you'll be able to see impeller. no water could mean the rubber broke loose from the metal hub, so if you can turn the impeller on shaft with needle nose pliers it spun off hub. you'll also s...

Re: Generator water intake obstruction
if the garden hose doesn't work, don't discount a bad impeller. remember shutdown occurs when the engine temp reaches overheat set point. at that point there has been no water flowing (cooling impeller) for quite some time.
good luck.
good luck.

Re: Northern Lights Genset Brushes
one last question: do you know if nl has a capacitor? i will say up front, i do not have an nl, but have 2 other generators of different brands on 2 different boats. in both boats, on multiple occasions, when the genset stopped putting out ac it was b/c of a blown capacitor. if nl has one, it's a ch...

Re: Northern Lights Genset Brushes
really depends on your electric demands. we've done it in the past when we had genset problems but only for a day or 2 until we went back to dock and fixed genset. i don't think std alternators will measure up to the battery charger.
did nl give you any thoughts on what the problem might be?
