SSB TRANSCEIVER - Marine & Ham

For Sale: ICOM 718 Ham radio transceiver which has been professional modified to include marine frequencies. Have the best of both worlds! Never used! I ended up 2 inches too short of where I intended to mount the unit. Email: dsmost@earthlink.net or 772.222.6121.

Air Conditioning While On Lift?

Curious how anyone has rigged the water intake for running the air conditioner when on a lift?

Speaking of lifts - opinions? experiences?

As always, very appreciative for any help.

In 2004, we lost our 38' Irwin as a result of Francis and Jean. Our company then was One Beacon. In early 2005 we purchased our Capella. We were pleasantly surprised - our premium decreased with Progressive even though the value of our boat significantly increased! Of course, now with Wilma... Doug ...

Alex: CRUISING HANDBOOK by Nigel Calder has excellent information (albeit only 3 pages) on using telltales. He suggests three on each side. "...One near the base of the sail, one about halfway up, and one near the head." There is a good drawing on how to "read" them and make appr...

Welcome

Tom & Marie: We too are new PDQ owners. We purchased a 2000 Capella in February located in Oriental, NC and finally got it down to Hobe Sound, FL in Sept. We were VERY fortunate to have survived Wilma without a problem - just some more gray hair from the stress of it all! Our area (Hobe Sound/St...

Enough Power with 9.9's

Wondering what experiences owners have had with 9.9's (no sails up) in adverse strong wind and/or current conditions. So far we have been against 30 knot winds and 3 foot seas (Ocracoke to Oriental). We made headway at about 2.5 knots. Slow but doable. However, I can't help but wonder what getting o...

Tilt lock (a.k.a.tilt lever) Problems

The starboard engine kicks up in reverse because the tilt lock lever does not engage. And of course when it does it wraps the engine lift cord around the prop! In an older thread on this topic it was recommended that the tilt lock be moved to the right or left. Mine doesn't budge. Before moving the ...

Dear Chris & Kelly:

Welcome!

Our new (used) Capella ATTITUDE (formerly MOJO) is also on Florida's east coast. We are in Hobe Sound.

Wondering if any PDQ folks are going to the SSCA gathering in Melbourne this Nov?

Gas Vent? Follow Up

Chris and Sam & Gina: Thank you so much for the responses. On past boats, I could hear the air being forced out of the vent when fueling up. And of course, no matter how careful I tried to be, many times some fuel would spill out through the vent. In the few times I've fueled up my PDQ I've neve...

Curious if my Capella gas tank (yes, I have outboards) has a vent. If so, where the heck is it?!
