Re: SSB?

The rope antenna certainly is MUCH less expensive than using a backstay (assuming your backstay is in place. Whether the rope antenna is a better antenna? Now that is another story. The rope antenna is basically a long piece of wire running in the middle of a piece of rope. It requires either hangin...

Re: SSB?

The Icom 718 is what was recommended to me. Unfortunately, when I went to install it in my nav. station it was one ( 1) inch too deep. %&)#%@! So I went with the Icom 706MKIIG. This will fit anywhere. The face plate detaches (with I did not have to do) and measures about one (1) inch deep! The 7...

Re: SSB?

Sandy: A marine SSB radio would be easy to operate on the marine frequencies (channels) but difficult to operate on the HAM frequencies. A HAM radio is be easy operate on the marine frequencies (channels) and the marine frequencies. Also, you can buy a HAM SSB radio for much less money than a marine...

Hi all.
Am doing some fiberglass work on my 2000 Capella. Trying to match the white the best I can. Wondering if anyone knows the exact color/blend used.

Tnx

Honda 15 Performance Report

Marc: The following is a report from Tranquility. They too changed to Honda 15's mounted externally. "I was getting a good 6.0+ knots under full load and two adults on board (full water tanks, gas tank, hanging dinghy & engine, generator, water maker, AC, & all the extra cruising gear, ...

Dinghy Issue

Tom: Ah, yes - the dinghy. The existing dinghy hoist brackets (on my boat) can be extended. If need be, a support(s) could be added either to the new brackets or to the transom. My original design for motor brackets was to have one bracket that attached to both hulls and two points on the transom. T...

HONDA 15's INSTALLED

After one year of talking, researching and doing, the installation of Honda 15’s on the back of my Capella 36 is now complete. I am happy to report that the performance is excellent. In flat water with headwinds of 16 knots the boat moved effortlessly at 4,000 rpm to a speed of 7.5. The motors can r...

Honda 15's - COMMITTED

I am in the process of mounting Honda 15's with electric tilt to the back of my Capella. Yes, outside the nacelle (motor well). I have researched this for over a year and have now committed. Details to follow - including the scoop on the custom fabricated brackets. The installation should be complet...

Insurance in SE Florida

Ditto to Free Spirit's post.
Good news: For whatever reason, Progressive lowered their rates!
Bad news: They only cover 125 nm off US coastline. No rider available to extend this.
