Re: Water in the hulls?

We are on year two of our "hull water" issue. At this point, we just have it on the schedule the every time we anchor for more than a day or two, we pump out the forward and aft compartments. We have replaced bolts and resealed areas in the forward toe rails and filled in the screw holes f...

Prop pitch on 9.9

buying new 9.9 yam. dealer says prop comes with 11 3/4 x 7 previous prop on 2003 was 11 1/4 x9 1/4.
Joe at Shipyard says that engine cannot handle larger pitch. (old engine also has option for 12 pitch)

Anyone have insight/experience as to which pitch would or would not be best?

length of anchor chain

I saw a couple old posts but nothing definitive.
Anyone ever come to a conclusion on how much anchor chain is needed (figure Caribbean islands and Keys--ie. 20ft depth max)
and at what point the chain length just becomes additional weight where rope rode would be just as effective?

Steering quadrant replacement?

Has anyone used the Constellationâ„¢ Quadrants sold by Lewmar?
Looks like they can be pretty customized, but I don't see how the bar connector arm can be attached?
other sources for replacement parts?
Ours is looking pretty worn with some broken pieces and I am thinking replacement.

Re: Archway on back (effect on speed)

Yes, the year and length have been a matter of much debate. the hull number specifies 1990 (#8) it didn't rough measure at 34' and the manual on the boat is for a 36'. Mack sails said they didn't make the 34' in a sail model that year. But Yes, very flat steps. anyone know where the extension molds ...

Archway on back (effect on speed)

wasn't sure if this qualified as gear or equipment. We are wanting to add an archway to a 1990 32'. because of the flat backs, mounting the outer leg on the steps doesn't seem to work and we don't want to lose the distance between the hulls by mounting internal of the hulls. which would leave mounti...

Re: hatch hinge maintenance

Anyone checking....I talked to the guy (at boat show) that replaces the "glass" in the lewmar covers. he said that the best way he has to get the pins back in the hinges is to open them completely (top laying flat) and then use a small clamp to hold the middle section (from cover) down aga...

Re: Rudder inspection or replacement?

Follow up. To the best of my knowledge, 24 year old rudders have never seen cold water (never above FL in winter and hopefully never will) Not real comfortable with the idea of being in some channel between islands when it decides to fall apart. Has anyone every tried resistance (moisture) re...

Is it a 32 or a 34?

OK...this seems a bit dumb but....the boat we bought has some mixed info as to "official" length. The registration says 34.5 feet, the hull tag just says 0008J90 (no other numbers), the owner's manual is for a 36. The sail companies that I have contacted for replacements insist that PDQ di...

Rudder inspection or replacement?

Our new to us boat is 25yrs old (#8) and the rudders have presumably never been inspected. We do know that one had a bent shaft about 5 years ago and that the fix was "adequate". There is no indication of damage, but one does drip rusty water when held upside down, (yes, they have been rem...
