Re: Poll owners on their Fridge Capacity

Todd:

We must have different fridges. Ours (circa 1994) has the "L" shaped guillotine type door that is allegedly held open by a stiff spring. I don't recall any trim that surrounds it.

Maybe someone else can help. James, are you out there?

Re: Poll owners on their Fridge Capacity

Charley: We have the same setup on Sunshine and I can feel your pain. We had lots of problems getting ours to work properly, but we finally succeeded. I can almost promise you that you either have too much or too little refrigerant and/or leaky Schrader valves. Go to WalMart or NAPA and buy a can or...

Thanks for the davit photos. My "to do" list just keeps getting longer and longer.

Re: Water Heater Again

Bob:

We got ours off Ebay. Just search on "Eccotemp L5" and you'll find several sellers. Note that it's an Eccotemp and not an Eccotherm -- big difference.

Good luck!

Re: Anyone going to the Annapolis boat show?

Hi, Eric: Wow! That cookout sounds like a real winner. If you do decide to do it, please let us help with the arrangements. Since we're in IN for the summer and the boat is in FL, we won't be coming by boat. We will most likely drive to Annapolis -- although, we might decide to fly. Either way, we'l...

Anyone going to the Annapolis boat show?

Margaret and I are planning to go -- our first trip to Annapolis -- and would love to meet up with any fellow PDQers who are there. If you are going, let us know. Thanks.

Re: Automatic Identification System - AIS

Sandy: I fiddled with the teeny-weeney little NEMA wires between the AIS receiver and the Garmin 545S for a few minutes but, so far, no joy. Same deal when I tried to connect my new DSC Standard Horizon VHF and the chartplotter. I definitely qualify as a NEMA-phobic but can't spend a whole boat unit...

Re: Automatic Identification System - AIS

Root:

Very cool...thanks for sharing.

BTW, I consider my little $200.00 AIS receiver one of my better investments for the boat. So far, it only inputs to the notebook, but connecting it to the chartplotter is pretty high on my list. Best wishes.

Re: Refrigeration

Thanks, Tom. That's very helpful. I was having doubts about that cover and your experience confirmed my suspicions about it. You just saved us $100. The port aft cabin probably won't work for us. Not only is it our nav station/computer room, but it's also our only access to the port diesel. I alread...

Tom: We have a 38 quart Engel freezer on our "gotta have" list to keep all of those huge fish I'm going to catch some day. We also learned the importance to taking your own food to the Bahamas and the little evaporator/freezer in our Cold Machine is not what you would call huge. I"m c...

Re: Refrigeration

Sam: I'm not sure what you mean by "front loader". Ours (hull 36) is an "L" shaped box that is both a front loader and a top loader. It came from the factory with an amp hogging Grunert compressor/cold plate setup. We swapped it for an Adler Barbor (now Waeco) Cold Machine that t...
