Re: Lower Keys Anchorages

I've anchored a few times off Bahia Honda state park. Last time was 5 yrs ago, but found that I could move to keep the boat sheltered from the waves.

Re: PDQ Work Tour 2011

Hi Gary; Just to comment on your water tight compartments - I have hull 49 and had the same problem. James fixed/resealed the inspection ports and I ensured that the drains in the gutters around the hatches remained cleared, and the problem was mostly solved. I went from a few gallons of water a se...

Re: Florida Docks/Slips/Moorings/Anchorages

Bill,
It turns out that our boat will be on the hard for a while yet unfortunately. We have a mooring about a mile south of the PB Inlet that you're welcome to use if you plan on being in this area for more than a couple days. My contact email is garywizard at yahoo if you're interested.

Re: PDQ Work Tour 2011

James - That inspection sounds exactly like what I've been thinking we needed before heading out on an extended cruise next winter. Something else you may have some ideas about - I get water in the aft water-tight compartments (where the rudder post goes thru. We had a thread about the problem in th...

Re: Florida Docks/Slips/Moorings/Anchorages

I'll take a shot at a few places I'm familiar with. West Palm Beach - inside the PB Inlet & then south of Peanut Island there is a good anchorage area with various places you can take a dinghy ashore. Ft Lauderdale - Inside at Port Everglades, North along the ICW under a bridge, around a bend &a...

Re: Yanmar Replacement Diesels

Per the comment: >> Also, my exhaust risers were rusted and clogged, requiring replacement. Not expensive and should be replaced every 5 years per mechanic. At one point, I had problems with my port engine - it just did not run right or throttle-up. Talking with the Yanmar distributor near me (the b...

Re: PDQ Work Tour 2011

I'm not certain what this work tour is all about - being relatively new to this awesome forum. However, we would love to meet other PDQ owners. We're in West Palm Beach - have a mooring just south of Peanut Island. While we'll be (hopefully) in the Bahamas until mid-January, it would be nice to conn...

Re: Sailmaker Recommendations 2010

While hauled out almost 5 yrs ago, I had Calvert measure my 36 for a new main & genoa. They also pulled the mast for re-wiring & replacement of all the standing rigging. The work was done acceptably well at what I thought was a reasonable cost. However...my new main fully raised is about a f...

Re: SSB - Antenna Location

Mike - glad to hear that's working for you! To update, I got a Dynaplate for the ground plane (since the boat is on the hard anyway), but have a question concerning the installation location. All the boats I've seen or read about installed their Dynaplate (or equivalent) on the bottom of the hull. D...

Re: Yanmar Replacement Diesels

Inspiration (#47 / 95) is an LRC, so I ran into this situation a couple years ago when I needed to completely rebuild/replace one engine. The only problem with either the smaller or larger engines was that the motor mounts are completely different. There was also some question as to whether I could ...

fredandkathy - watch where the lazy jack lines thread thru the mack pack - there's significant wear in those spots

Re: Stacking sail covers

Mine attaches just as Lady's does - open at the bottom with strap that run between the sail & the boom.
I've had to get extra cloth reinforcement panels where the lazy jacks rub against the cover though.

SSB - Antenna Location

I am about to embark on installing an SSB in Inspiration. After talking with Dave Kane & seeing his (now ex) 36, his antenna mounting solution (outside stbd side stay) seems to make a lot of sense. Of course, everyone I talk with says to use a backstay - which means the tuner is in the shower or...

Re: Dinghy davits dimensions? (30% tax credit?)

I don't mean to be hijacking this thread - but my ears perked up when Phil mentioned something about a 30% tax credit?
Can you explain a bit more or point me to some info?

Thanks - Gary

Re: Water Pooling

Tom,

I have the same situation on Inspiration - #47. As Eric said, it's not a problem unless you're wearing clean, dry socks & don't expect to step in a water puddle :D
