Re: 100hp yanmar starter replacement for pdq 34
Kip, Below is a copy of a post I put on the forum last year regarding the replacement of a starter. I have 75hp engines and have no idea if the 100hp engines with the inter-cooler will cause additional challenges. I had to replace the starter on the port side. The starter itself was fine in my case,...

Re: $ blade prop pitch changes
John, I really don’t have much to offer regarding four blade props. We have a 2006 with 75hp engines and three blade props. We were having RPM troubles a couple years ago and Stuart Yacht had a little pitch taken off. I think we are 16 x 13 but I don’t have the papers with me. Four us the real probl...

Re: Hello from new owner
Welcome Bob Nd Carol, 3. I installed a inexpensive Hawkeye depth finder with a shoot through the hull transducer. I use it as a backup and in shallow areas to see what I have under each hull. The transducer is under the panel in front of the head. The depth finder readout is mounted on the flybridge...

Re: Dinghy Hoist - added winch
Duane, I may contact you at some point for the part number information. Right now I am just going to do a bit of thinking. Our boat has a dinghy engine hoist that may give me a way to add a winch to the engine hoist line (which also uses 6-1 tackle) to lift the boat. Then snug the dinghy hoist line ...

Re: Dinghy Hoist - added winch
Duane, First, let me say I am not going to be the guy to say we have done something better to ease use of the dinghy. In fact, I have done nothing except continue to struggle with the same problem of raising the aft end of the dinghy with a 10hp motor. I think your modification is well thought out a...

Re: Port Tachometer and hour meter not working.
Bill, The tach sensor reads the flywheel. It is mounted in the bellhousing just under the turbocharger. I think I would check the connection there first. Have someone watch the tach while you jiggle the wires. When it comes to the hour meters, neither of mine work on the flybridge. The ones on the l...

Re: Diesel spill
Thanks for the suggestion John. I tried the Formula 88 this morning and it seems to have taken care of the smell in the salon. After an email with James Power I think the entire fuel tank sits inside a fiberglass tub, probably to isolate any tank leaks. He said the one time he dealt with a diesel le...

Diesel spill
We are about to take a long trip so I decided to top off the fuel as full as I could. That was a mistake. The next day the cabin smelled like diesel. There was a small amount on top of the salon fuel tank that had leaked from the sending unit seal. I thought it was contained to the top of the tank, ...

Re: Cabinet Storage?
We don't have the washer and dryer but I have seen them. The cabinet is about twice as deep and the L seat is shortened to accommodate.

Re: New Owner Questions
Regarding the generator. Our generator developed a rust hole in the bottom of the oil pan which required complete removal from the boat to replace the pan. It does fit through the hatch.

Transmission, Rear Seal
We have a rear transmission seal leaking on the starboard side. It is a slow leak but needs to be fixed. Has anyone replaced a transmission seal on their 34? If so can it be done while the boat is in the water and without removing the prop? I am hoping I can unbolt the coupler and the flexible plast...

Re: New Head..
Bill,
Ours works fine and when it had an issue it was easy to repair. I can see it would be easier with the one you are looking at when you have guests although using the auto flush feature regularly seems like it may fill the holding tank quicker.
