PDQ folks on the web (and some entertaining browsing too!)

Post by Page 83 »

Some fellow members have been very busy with some pretty interesting projects lately. Mark and Diana Doyle have hauled "Semi-local" (PDQ 36) and are writing very well researched articles, and publishing a massive, inexpensive collection of NOAA charts and good-to-have documents and references on CD / DVD. You can also catch up on some down to earth, nitty-gritty reviews of a bewildering collection of Navigation Software at Madmariner.com ( http://www.madmariner.com/equipment/ele ... _012108_EE
) or at their website http://www.semi-local.com
If you aren't familiar with Panbo.com (for marine electronics) check out Ben Ellison's good opinion of Mark and Diana's work at
http://www.panbo.com/archives/2008/01/m ... data_.html
and wander around for a lot of good stuff about bleeding edge electonics. Beware, this is dangerou$ territory.
Best of all, if you (like me) think this is a fair price for a lot of downloading agony, go to http://www.semi-local.com and order the two disk set. Type in

If anyone is interested, I have pictures of the last PDQ 44 "SPIRIT OF NINA" delivered through the Erie Barge canal to Catskill NY and the trials and tribulations we encountered. We titled it the "What could go wrong tour 2007" If anyone is on Facebook and would care to have a look, just add me as a friend Dan Rankin Toronto network.....I will say one thing...it was an adventure and a half!!!! Cheers Dan
