I have a 1999 32 Altair and the cabin door latches barely keep the doors closed. Actually the only one that will stay close is the head. However, if your in the head showering and you have the porthole open a good gust of wind and the door pops open.
Anyone else have this problem and if so how do you deal with it ?
I could go and add some hooks to the inside but I just don’t like that idea.
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Cabin and Head Door latches
This is going to sound very strange but it fixed the problem on my 32. Adjust the tension on the rigging and this will probably fix the problem. When my doors don't close properly I know that the tension needs to be adjusted.

I had the same problem and solved it using a small piece of sheet aluminum that I pop rivetted to the door frame at the latch location. It extends out about 1/4 inch and is shaped to engage the latch. As I used light metal from a metal can I filled in behind it with epoxy so it keeps it's shape.

Hey Mark, the aluminum door frames have a tendancy to shift around in the bulkhead. If the previous posts dont help, remounting the frames usually does the trick. James
