Salon Table
I have the older solid table and want to build a new one with fold up leaves.
Attached is a picture of the current hardware; Does anyone have a picture of the hardware for the folding table? Any ideas or thoughts are also appreciated.

Re: Salon Table
Some fold up (http://www.zerotocruising.com/ - there is a picture in their last post) and some (mine) fold down. The fold-down version is nothing more than 2 piano hinges and 4 triangular leaf braces the swing out from the center (attached to a cabinet their version lacks). Which is better? No idea. However, we are not adding sliding shelves to our table, because we have a cabinet in that location.

Re: Salon Table
Thanks Drew,
As you have the fold down version, do they just hang down vertically? Does that turn into a knee bumper?
I was originally considering the fold up but not sure where to find the hinges. I think a piano hinge would be less than perfect.

Re: Salon Table
Yes, sort of, but not too bad, and it does allow you to leave things on the center of the table. I think I like that better, but I have not lived with the other.amytom wrote:Thanks Drew,

If you need more pics of the fold-up version I can take some and post them for you.

Re: Salon Table
Thanks Mike that'd be great! I'm interested in how the table mounts to the compression post as well as how the hinges are installed (flush, gaps, etc...). Also the general look of the table: leaves folded- gap in between them? leaves down- seem between the leaf and the table?
Also, if it's not too much to ask; the width of the table and the leaves.
Is there anything you would have done differently?
I appreaciate it.

Re: Salon Table
The last three photos show what we do with the space between the leaves when it is folded. Katana's previous owner just glued a suitably sized piece of wood under a plastic tray so it stays in one place. The final photo is of the disco ball which we recommend every PDQ owner have in their salon.
Width of leaves: 8 7/16"
Width of table open: 37 13/16"
What would I do differently? Now that we have those little sliding basket drawers underneath, which are attached and slide in a few plastic mirror clips, I don't think I would change anything. I love those little drawers.

Re: Salon Table
Thanks Mike,
That looks great! I doubt we could find the lifting arm which is fine as we don't use the table as a bed anyways. The pictures of the hinge inlays really helps to show what hardware we need.
I'll post pics up of what we come up with eventually. It won't be as pretty though.

Re: Salon Table
I will post some pics of the fold-down version, but it will be about May 8th before I get there; business travel beckons. I like the leg that pushes up and I like the clear space underneath on Katana. However, the fold down version remains more usable when folded and has substantial storage in the center (our TV and DVD takes only 1/2 of the space - the other half is games and cards).

Re: Salon Table
I posted the pictures of the table. Your request "forced" me to take a weekday afternoon and go sailing and fishing again. The things I put up with . I hate sailing when it's 80F with a 10-15 knot breeze.

Um... gale warning here today, with a chance of flurries tonight!
As for the table, I kinda like that table of yours.
