Protective panel for ignition switches on LRC

Post by fredandkathy »

The ignition switches and gages on the LRC are next to the port side bench seat and open to the elements as well as a misplaced foot, as a guest found out when she stepped on the ignition key and broke off the ignition switch. I'm considering installing a clear plastic hinged cover and wondered if anyone has already done this before or installed something else to protect the area.

We have the LRC and haven't yet covered the engine panel (we also have a bimini that provides protection). But we did do something similar to our monohull engine panel. Charley bought a piece of clear plexiglas from our local plastics supplier and used a brass piano hinge to attach it at the top of the panel. It kept most of the rain out, and because it was hinged, I could lift it up to clean under it.

Thanks Angela and Charley. Your solution is what I intend to adopt, but probably with SS hinges.
