Spinnaker measurements for 32 with shorter mast

Post by Phenix-former-owner »

I have Phenix,hull 32007, it has the shorter mast. I'm wondering if anyone has the proper measurements for an asymetrical (cruising) chute? I'm thinking of acquiring one for fun.

And any suggestions on going about acquiring a use chute?

The measurements you need are:
* Beam
* Tack to sheeting distance
* Mast-to-tack
* Mast height above tack

Simply getting the measurements of the sail won't work for an A-sail, because it is not symmetrical.

Kevin,

We bought a 10 year old PDQ32 and they had ordered an A-Spinakker with the boat. After a year of owning the boat I finally pulled the sail out of the bag to find that it had never been used. I have never flown a spinakker, and found the sock system easy to use and thouroughly enjoyed flying that kite. I was great downwind, but even when apparent wind was at 60 degrees and she pulled right along. Anything less than 60, it caved in. I believe the sail is made by a company called DTN. I just wonder if anyone else has one that they don't use. Perhaps you could post a new thread on the blog with "anyone want to sell their spinakker?" as the title.

Good luck,

Bryan

I own the PDQ 32008, built right after yours. I do have an A- spinnaker. Never have gotten around to measuring it. Email me if you still need the info.
