New jib sheet, main sheet and main halyard

Well, I still have the original jib and main sheets on the boat, and I've put off changing them as long as possible but it is time. :roll:

I'm not sure every boat came with the exact same running rigging, my jib sheet (original self tacking jib) is a little thicker than the main sheet.

Main halyard is about 15 years old and I forget which one I bought. I've already reversed it but it's probably time for a new one of these too.

Any recommendations as to what is the best option (line type and diameter) for each, and a vendor to get them as economically as possible?

I have 9/16 dia on the main halyard, 1/2 inch on the main sheet, and 3/8 on the jib sheet.

The main would probably be fine with 1/2 inch but the slightly larger diameter is easier on the hands when raising the sail.

I think my lines are all standard yacht braid but as I have not bought them recently I am not certain of that.

3/8" was factory spec for the mainsheet and I think it is plenty, though I did increase to 3:1 purchase. I've used some high-tech lines I got for free, but honestly, the best value is Samson LS or similar, and performance differences are trivial. Defender is fair.

Running rigging
The PDQ 32 is supplied with the following lengths of line for sheets, halyards and other functions. We use a top-quality line in lengths that we have found correct for a variety of situations. These lengths may give you a long tail in evertday conditions, but we recommend that you keep these lengths when replacement is required.

When lines show signs of wear, remove them from their hardware and turn them end-for-end. This shifts the wear point to a different part of the line and it will last longer.
Whenever a line shows signs of wear, inspect its hardware to ensure that there is not a rough spot or a jammed sheave.

Replace any line that shows obviously broken strands.

I have gone to nylon for the traveler. Much softer jibes. This is becoming more popular and accepted.

I came to this realization after trying some free Dyneema. Like jibing against a brick wall.
