Raymarine ST4000+ Auto pilot

Post by alan kayser »

Recently my auto pilot starting making sounds like the drive belt was failing. I called Raymarine and the parts person told me Raymarine could no longer supply the part #d169 belt and they had been out of supply for some time. Their tech. support advised me to search the web with that part number, or replace the wheel drive assy [$560.00]. If anyone is looking to replace or needs a spare I found a supplier Great Lakes Yacht Services In Sturgeon Bay WI. The cost was $52.30. I just checked the web again and there is a supplier on Ebay. Their cost $17.99 + 3.99 Shipping

FWIW - I got two of the substitute belts from New Jersey and put one on for my recent run from Stuart, FL to Oriental, NC and had no trouble with it at all. The autopilot was engaged for 98% of the trip and never missed a beat.

Tom

Also ate a belt on my ST4000+ on the last trip. Bought the replacement belt, thanks! Have it installed but want to lubricate the unit before reassembling. What kind of grease and where?

Thanks,
Sam
