Top Loading Nova Kool Fridge Spring

All,
I have the 1996 36 LRC. It has the top loading fridge with a spring that stiffens when you lift the top and holds the door open. This season the spring seems to have sort of failed, and now it no longer can hold the fridge door open. Anyone have any idea where to get this part?

We added a hook to the lid and an eye hook on the back of the seat so that it just hooks in the up position during loading. I like it better.

The springs are available from most marine stores.

Can't believe I didn't think of the hook and eye solution...
I agree that even when the spring works, it sometimes falls down on you, and it can hurt like hell if you get a hand caught in there. I'll check out the pneumatic lift, also.
