Galley Vent Fan

We needed something directly over the stove in the summer months to exhaust the heat from the galley stove. Not desiring something protruding through the deck as tripping hazard, I opted for a seasonally removable solution. Using the existing opening window as a pattern, I cut a ΒΌ inch piece of Lexan to fit and installed in it a 12 volt computer cooling fan and cowl vent. Power is provided via a two pole connector tied into Wind Seekers fan circuit. Installed with the open port light acting as a semi-range hood, it works great removing smoke and heat. but went with a through-wall installation instead. Different problem, different solution. You can see it in my blog:

I suppose a regular solar vent would work for either, but more $$, bulky, and dependent on the sun direction. It is also nice, in both cases, to have a switch to easily turn it off.
