I saw a posting on the PDQ Facbook page of a 36 with an Ottoman instead of a table in the salon.
Bonnie liked the idea, and found one she liked on Overstock.com.
I removed the table yesterday and sat the ottoman in place. It really makes the salon look much larger and it easier to move around. We may put in a bracket for a small adjustable plexi-glass table, or just use a tray on top of the ottoman when we eat inside.

I wonder what would happen if you simply lower the table without raising the leaves, and fitted the top with a cushion? Hmm....
