Center \ Aft bilge pumps - anybody added them?

Post by maxicrom »

II the Max sits a bit stern heavy and we tend to get water sitting in the bilges on occasion (I know, fix the deck hatch cover seals - it's on the to-do list). Anyway I think part of this is do to the aft weight from the diesel on the port side and our battery bank mounted opposite in the cockpit locker (where the outboard would be). I'm thinking with the later dual diesel models PDQ must have shifted the weight factor - ours is a 91' and I don't think there was dual diesel option then - ours is pretty unique with the single Yanmar mounted aft in the port hull.

Has anyone added bilge pumps aft of the keel sections? I'd like to get your input... it makes it easy for mold to start under the floorboards..

Thanks,

Mike
