Need some help. Anyone know the location of the cg of a Capella? Also, can the back stays be removed temporarily without the mast falling?

Don't know about CG.

Yes, You can release the backstays. But you MUST lead 2 halyards back (main and chute) and tighten those.

Thank you. Alas, it is to load the boat via sling and the spreader cage may clobber the back stays... In which case it will hit the halyards as well. Once loaded, I can reattach them, repeating the process to unload.

I think the mast has to come out. The aft shrouds would hold it, but I think they will need to go also.

Look at the keel in profile, compared to the mast. Pretty much under it, and the boat rests nicely on the keel. The CG is probably only ~ 1-2 feet behind the mast.

No need to pull the mast. I do this every year. Loosen rear stays enough so that the slings will work. Run halyards back to toe rail about 3/4 of the way back on each side, but not so far back that the slings won't work. Mast will be fine.

I agree. It all boils down to how they rig the spreaders. I've seen it go both ways.
