Engine Room Access

Post by CatManMike »

For a heavy weight old man like myself access to the engine room via the deck hatch is nearly impossible. After reading Terry Green's idea of adding access through the shower wall I decided to create an access panel that would hinge up and out-of-the-way to allow Quick and easy access to the diesel engine rooms. It only took us a couple of hours to cut out the panel, add the stainless steel piano hinge and some light plastic trim around the edges. We added a stainless loop near the bottom of the cut out to hold the panel up against the ceiling and out-of-the-way. We will never use the deck patch again except for light and ventilation. This was a much easier project than I anticipated and highly recommended for any LRC owners. Attached are the before and after shots.

"Reverie" is one of the few LRCs with dual heads - so port and starboard look nearly identical.
